Scott and Andrew both did a great job hosting our small group. We got to see the Moon in great detail, as well as Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Dumbbell Nebula, and the (onion)Ring Nebula. Scott also brought us outside the observatory to watch the ISS fly by; it just happened to be making a pass overhead while we were there. All this in the span of about an hour and a half, while our educated hosts chatted with us and were able to answer our many questions.
This is something everyone should have a chance to appreciate, it's simply awe inspiring to witness these objects in person rather than on a computer screen!

Definitely an experience like no other!! we have the opportunity to have a peak at whats out there! Take advantage of it!! It's almost like looking at a precious stone through a microscope and seeing all its splendour along with all its flaws.
Scott is amazing! Not only does he know everything there is to know but he has the passion to share it! We had a wonderful time, I cannot wait to go back!

It really is amazing how big the universe is around us. While at the Observatory we were able to view Mars, Venus, Saturn, and get a big eyeful of the moon as it rose!
The Telescope also has an adapter for SLR cameras, which I took advantage of during my visit. It was just awesome to see things like the rings of Saturn and various nebulae, and be able to capture pictures on the camera as well.
Amazing experience, and I will attach some of my pictures to this review.

Scott was a great host showing us the night sky. Very responsive by email. Enthusiastic to show us Jupiter and various clusters. The sky wasn't the best, but we enjoyed the experience none the less. Would like to come back and see the moon. He shared photos with us promptly after we left!

WOW!!! what an amazing experience. We learned and saw so much on our tour. Truly inspiring. Our host, Scott, was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and approachable. Great with kids, and knew how to involve them. My 9 year old boys really enjoyed this experience. Thank you Scott! We will definitely recommend the observatory to our friends and family.

After googling things to do in Guelph this caught my eye right away. After emailing Andrew some questions I knew this was going to be a great thing to do with my kids - aged 11 and 13. Andrew was awesome to deal with and I was so excited to surprise my kids with this. The day we were scheduled we weren't sure if the weather was going to work in our favor or not, but I did end up receiving an email from Andrew saying the forecast looked good and that his colleague Eamonn would be doing the tour with us. I had problems finding the place but he came out looking for us. He was very friendly and welcoming and you could tell he was very passionate about sharing this experience with us. The kids absolutely loved it, as did I. It was so educational and unusual, and Eamonn was so knowledgeable. We got to see saturn which was so cool! Exploring the night sky is something we would definitely do again and I recommend it to anyone going to Guelph, and it was definitely great value for the money.

Amazing evening!
Host Andrew gave an excellent tour. We will definitely be back.
Pro-tip. Take your tour host out for a meal and a drink beforehand to get your questions answered and learn about their thesis/projects. Grad students gotta eat.
Nice to see my alma mater and to hear the First-aid response team I started 27? Years ago is still running. Also that the cannon still gets regular painting.
Cheers

I took my wife to the University of Guelph Observatory for a surprise date night. We had a great experience with our tour guide Andrew stargazing. He was very knowledgable and personable as we discussed the different Messier objects as well the visible planets. The visual tour was well planned out and the time just seemed to fly by. This is definitely one of those hidden gems found right in the City of Guelph. It was easy to find the on the University campus located right next to the University Centre.
I would highly recommend this great place to anyone, whether it be for a night out with a loved one, a group of friends or the whole family.
Just a note to wear comfortable footwear as you will be standing the whole time and you will have to walk up 2 flights of stairs to access the Observatory on the roof of the MacNaughton Building.

I would contact them directly, as I'm not sure about weekends, and of course it is also dependent on weather conditions. Hope you are able to take this incredible tour!
