There are three parking areas for the falls: one on the actual viewing platforms, another across the street, another by the Red Hill Trail. All three are crazy overcrowded with vehicles blocking each other.
But we know why: while the falls themselves are no longer accessible and fenced off ($10,000 fine), the viewpoint alternative is actually gorgeous!

The Albion Falls was beautiful the day I went. The surrounding area is clean and foliage is beautiful. You need to be very cautious around the falls as there is not enough fencing to keep people from the cliff edges. Even though it is a beautiful place, more needs to be done concerning safety fencing.

These falls are beautiful with lots of hiking areas. A great place for a picnic lunch. Parking is free and was very busy.
Yoh are not allowed to swim in these falls anymore or ger super close to them. Bylaw officers were there handing out tickets the whole time we were there.
It is dog and small children friendly.

I visited Albion and Buttermilk Falls in the middle of the pandemic and an extended heat wave. There were parking patrollers so we couldn’t park on the side of the road for easy and quick access for a quick glance - they directed us to a parking lot about a kilometre away. It was well over 30° with a Humidex factor as well and the walk through the forest trail almost did me and my teenagers in. We were totally unprepared with proper footwear or water so I accept this as my fault!
The first falls (Buttermilk) had no water. Albion Falls has a trickle but the viewing platforms were closed to the public. Frustration all around! I am quite prepared to give this a different rating if we return in the fall or the spring!

After looking at trip advisor‘s reviews and pictures, this seemed like a good trip. However, after arriving there, we made the realization that one can not go down to the water fall and just look at it from far above (it’s closed off now and not allowed to go down). We spent around 15 minutes there to look at it from both angles and then left. If you are looking for a nice waterfall hike, I would not recommend this.

Visited Albion with my niece in October. Flow was fabulous, colours just starting to turn. Lots of visitors in the parking lots. It was a nice fall walk from the lot to both Albion and Buttermilk. It's unfortunate we can't go to the bottom of this magnificent beauty any longer. The last time we were here, that is what we did. And it was sure fun! The views this time from the observation decks were also spectacular. Nothing that a great camera can't capture - or a cell phone for that matter.

There are many photos online of the beautiful falls in Hamilton -especially albion falls - where it is depicted that people can walk on the falls and get close to it. This is no longer the case since last year. All the falls in hamilton are gaurded with rude security and many trails have been shut down so most photo opportunities are no longer available. The security were also trigger happy to hand out 75 dollar tickets to those who they suspected had gone over or through fenced off areas for pictures. Save your time and skip hamilton's falls. we spent all day hiking and this one was the most beautiful but I would have rather gone anywhere else in ontario for a hiking trip.

Came here last summer (June 2017) and it was incredible, you could take the stairs down to the base of the waterfall and venture in. It was raining and walking along the bottom was still safe. Now there is fencing everywhere, and you cannot get close to the waterfall to enjoy it and nor can you take a good picture. There needs to be a better solution because it isn't worth visiting as is.

Don't bother coming, thanks to multiple litigations and deaths the City of Hamilton is fencing in the falls until further notice. I've been here dozens of times in the past years and seen many moronic things people don't understand the physics of height + gravity.

Yesterday, on July 25th 2015, my family and I went to view Albion Falls after attending a Pan Am soccer game in Hamilton.
Around 6:30 pm, as I stood near the cliff trying to take a picture of my family I watched in terror as a 10-year-old boy ran down the steep rocky narrow hill, lose balance, accelerate and fall off the very same cliff I was standing on (I am attaching pictures of the cliff I am referring to). I saw the poor boy's fear-stricken face as he realized what was about to happen and I couldn’t grab him in time so I started screaming. My mother literally stood one feet away from him with her back towards him, had she been a little closer, she would have fallen over the cliff with him considering the speed he was coming down at. He fell a solid 30 feet. Luckily he was able to limp his way back up 20 minutes later with what looked like a broken arm, scrapes, bruises on his elbows, knees and face - but it also seemed like he may have broken a rib or two. In hindsight, I wish someone (including myself) had immediately called for an ambulance - hopefully the boy is recovering well. All the bystanders stood there frozen in shock because we assumed the worst had happened, thank god he didn't land on his head.
The City of Hamilton, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make some changes. If our tax dollars can be used to paint HOV lanes for the Pan Am games, surely a bit of money can be used towards putting in safety railings, steps and fences in dangerous places that are deemed to be tourist attractions.
This incident could have been and should have been prevented. Kindly close off the Falls to the public until safety changes have been made. The pathway down to Albion Falls is not at all suitable for children or seniors and the place was packed with tourists and visitors of all ages. Please put up a fence and railing by where this boy fell and close off any other open area to prevent falls to the bottom of the Waterfalls, invest in putting in some steps with hand railing and put up signs everywhere requesting people to go down slowly and cautiously.
My mother, father, sister and I feel very disturbed and anxious after seeing this incident take place.
Bottom line: please do not risk your safety by going to here until it's safer to do so.

Are there any picnic spots with the benches at the Albion falls!?
Written July 1, 2023
Not really. There are two parking lots within a short walk of the falls so I suppose you could do it tail-gate style in either if you were inclined. I believe there is a picnic table or two near the parking lot at the end of Mud Street, and there is some grass there, but there are no bbq pits, running water, bathrooms or permanent shelters anywhere, and you can't actually see the waterfall(s) from either location.

We are older, some mobility issues. How easy is it to go to the fall from Bus 21? any recommendation.
Written May 31, 2019
The Upper Kenilworth (#21) bus goes right by Albion falls and it would only be a very short and easy walk if there was a bus stop at the Arbour road parking lot. There isn't. The closest bus stop is at Mud and Pritchard which is 450m away, and at the bottom of a small but not insignificant hill. The views are pretty limited from the top regardless and you're right by the road. The #11 and #43 buses go fairy close to Felker's falls. It would be a longer walk but much of it is paved and the rest is flat and fairly easy. It's 400m from the closest bus stop to the parking lot, and I'm pretty sure it's well under 1km total. The views here are much better than at Albion Falls and there are a couple benches. Tiffany Falls in the west end is right off of Wilson Street East (near Ancaster) and serviced by the #5A (and sometimes 5C) but the closest stop is at 1039 Wislon St. which Google says is an 800m walk. The road is busy and the path after that is rustic and uneven.Tiffany falls is the most impressive of the three though. I'm not aware of any other waterfalls that are close to bus routs. Given the options, I would probably go with Felker's Falls if you can handle the walk.

Is the trail’s terrain okay for dogs? I have a smaller guy, a cocker spaniel, that I would like to take with me. He hates water but other then that he’s pretty good.
Written August 28, 2018
Yes it should be perfectly fine for your cocker spaniel.

For me from the top or side. However, i have some mobility issues and recommend you take photos that you feel are of interesting framing and at the same time are not risking your safety.

Can we do a picnic ıs there a seats available ?
Written October 17, 2017
At the falls it's pretty hard for a picnic unless you don't mind eating on the rocks. You can simply bring a cloth for the floor but there are no garbage bins at the falls. To keep the falls clean and keep the animals away, I suggest up the road. There are nicer grassy areas with benches, tables, and garbage bins.

Are there any other safe walls to take a dip ?
Written August 18, 2017
Hi,
Not that I have been to, no. I've only been to Albion Falls, the Devil's Punchbowl and Felker's Falls and they're all not suitable to take a dip in.

What are the directions to mud street parking lot? I cant seem to find it on the web. I will still look.
Written August 12, 2017
It is directly across the street. From the highway and then the main street as you turn right on to the street on which Albion Falls is the parking (and picnic area) is on your left and the falls are on your right.
