Being mainly provincial park campers (we have a 30ft trailer), we weren't sure what to expect at a conservation area. But we were pleasantly surprised! Valens has beautiful, well-treed sites, a decent beach, a nice camp store, and plenty of well-maintained walking trails. It truly has the feel of a provincial park. We would definitely recommend it.

July 2022 and I stayed 2 nights at campsite 21. Not a bitter review, but honesty.

Pro - The entire park was very clean. My camp site was clean, everywhere I went throughout the park was clean.

Pro - Nice place for a day trip bbq/picnic.

Con - Photos of camp sites on their website need updating. My site showed mostly grass but when I arrived it was mostly dirt, a fine, dusty sort of dirt. Site was also on a slope.

Con - The wood they sell was the worst wood I have ever used to burn. Mostly rotten and it was disappointing, not only a low quality burn but the pieces and sizes of wood was also disappointing.

Con - Raccoons walk through your site like they own the place at night, freaked me out a few times. I had a coon vs skunk fight on my site, skunk won without spraying.

We visited Valens beach and had a great day. The sand was very well-groomed and soft. The water was clear but too cold to go in very far. We were lucky to watch a "free airshow" while we ate our picnic lunch... There was a pilot doing aerial acrobatics high above and it was a lot of fun to watch.

We'll return to Valens regularly, it was a great experience and included with our Conservation Pass.

We had a great day experience. We have been there both on a weekend and on a weekday. I love the grounds. Very well kept. We took our canoe out on the water and swam at the beach. A great family environment. I did not stay over night so cannot comment on the camping but we had a beautiful getaway for only being 30 minutes from my home

Horrible. Worst camping experience. No electric at our site because they have overloaded the circuit. Staff is less than helpful. Park manager is doing his best but can’t do much with an overloaded circuit. If you can’t service all sites then don’t sell the services at the sites. I’m paying for a water hookup. My food is going to spoil. We had to take our animals home because it was too hot. The sites are too tight and small for our 32 ft. Never coming here again.

Went through the other day and was really impressed by the quality and infrastructure. The park was not very crowded, there was grass everywhere even near the beach, the beach was well maintained with adequate amount of sand, there were volleyball nets already set up, the water was clean and warm. For those who like to hike, there are plenty of options to walk around the lake. This park much better maintained than parks from Grand River Conservation Authority.

We went to this place on the long weekend of August and paid $30 for parking and $5 for anyone over 5yrs old. There's nothing special about this place to justify that cost. There is a small sandy beach and some trails. We thought fishing might be good but there are way too many weeds on the lake. There's really not much to do on a day trip. I recommend other places to visit with better beaches and less/no cost.

This was our first time camping at Valens - and it was great! Camping sites vary greatly in size, but most are generally tree covered for privacy. Bathrooms were clean (ish) and park was well monitored. The beach is great for swimming and my dogs loved the dog beach! If you camp with dogs - a great place to go! Dog beach is close to all amenities, and is clean with easy access. My only issue was finding a garbage can close to the dog beach for their clean up.

For families - a great spot. I think the complete alcohol ban helps with making this a family oriented area. After 11pm - there is an authentic quiet zone. We may have been woken through the night from critters in the area, but definitely no hooting and shouting from party groups. I will camp here again.
