A big open gallery, unique art displays and occasionally they have programs too. The rotating and standing displays are always impressive.

The security staff was following this woman with a baby carriage until she broke down and cried. They gave us dirty looks when they followed us out. Disgusting

I went there for the first time, and I was impressed with the displays. The place is not that big, but the exhibits are varied and interesting. I will certainly come back for a second visit. The only negative comment (sort of) that I would like to make is that I found some of the descriptions of the exhibits are a little bit confusing. I was not sure at times which description was related to which display.

I am not an art fan and if it is modern art not a fan at all.
This plaxce have a mix an old and new , pictures, paints and sculptures. Young people and not that young. It is worthy to visit. Parking is complicated and expensive, that's why I put 4 stars instead of 5.

The Art Gallery Hamilton hosted a free Family Day event which I decided to attend with my grandchildren. Parking nearby was free as it was a weekend. The current exhibits were interesting and held the kids attention for a decent period of time. There were also free guided tours but we did not partake of them. There were also free children's workshops which seemed geared for the 3 to 8 year range...art least that was the basic ages attending. The idea was to make a quilt square designing it with buttons, felt, or other materials. My granddaughter enjoyed spending time here but my older grandchild found it too young for him. The quilt pieces from each child could have been left behind to be pieced together with others or just taken home to enjoy. We chose the later and after a nice visit were on our way.

Lovely surroundings. The art was great. We had a docette give us a quick tour of some of the art. As far as a holiday dinner, function, there was a lot to be desired. The food wasn't very good. The salad was tasteless, the one plate of dinner, consisted of one piece of turkey, a tiny bit of mashed potatoes, from a tube, one carrot, that was raw, and raw green beans as well. The service was very slow and we waiting quite a while to get to the next portion of our dinner. the dessert was so tiny, the cake was the size of my finger. Extremely thin piece of cake. Ridiculous! Would not return again, for a dinner. however, being an artist, the gallery part of the art gallery was interesting.

Our first visit to this gallery. We really enjoyed the special exhibit on Canadian comic book art - well put together and simply fascinating. The rest of gallery is really good as well. The permanent collection has some real gems and would make it worth the visit alone, for any art enthusiast. A nice building with a decent gallery shop.
