I am a born and raised (and proud) Hamiltonian. I love this city and its ardent support of the arts. I have been a member of the AGH for a number of years and always marvel at the beautiful exhibits and installations. Whether on a docent lead tour or just meandering on your own, you walk away with new knowledge... More

The Art Gallery of Hamilton is neither ostentatious nor huge. Odds are pretty good that if you go to museums you've been to one that is more grand. That being said, this is a great little gem. On a recent visit I was impressed by a few things that you might appreciate... 1. The Kim Adams Bruegel-Bosch Bus display is... More

There is a bistro for light food and high tea. The place is set up with tons of craft activities for the young children. Make sure to visit on the last Sunday of each month for the special kids day of crafts and painting. Grand space and wonderful friendly staff. Great spot for kids.

This is a worthwhile visit for both locals and visitors, individuals, couples and families. The gallery has a surprisingly high quality permanent collection and it also features impressive travelling exhibits. While we were visiting, we were treated to extensive collection of Ken Danby art.

Spent half a day here looking at their collections. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, although not big enough or a whole day's excursion.

Feels like a metropolitan gallery in a major city. The exhibits are always awesome and well executed. Lovely little shop & cafe, very convenient parking right below.

Very impactful show Last Portfolio by Juri Dojc. Stunning images of abandoned Synagogues, schools, books and other Jewish artifacts from a time before the expulsion of entire communities to concentration camps in the 40's. Ken Dandy's Beyond the Crease is a large exhibit of Paintings that have never been shown together anywhere. Images from private collections and museums around the... More

Spent an hour or so in the Gallery a few weeks ago; the featured attraction was historical settings in Canada by such artists as Kreighoff and The Group of Seven. The art was displayed well and there was a background piece that provided information about each. It was well-done and educational also. As an extra bonus we went upstairs and... More
