On a museum roadtrip to see Group of Seven paintings, we stopped at this fine Art Gallery of Hamilton to see their Directors Collect: 110 Years exhibition. It is an interesting look at the AGH collection from the perspective of each of their six museum directors since 1947. The first director T.R. MacDonald held his position for more than 25 years; he was also an artist in his own right (as was his wife Rae Hendershot). Among the many works he acquired for AGH were Group of Seven paintings. In this current Directors Collect exhibition, all works are displayed in salon style. Quite striking! And interesting to read about each director's position on collecting for the museum and displaying for the public.

I am not an art fan and if it is modern art not a fan at all.
This plaxce have a mix an old and new , pictures, paints and sculptures. Young people and not that young. It is worthy to visit. Parking is complicated and expensive, that's why I put 4 stars instead of 5.

Lovely surroundings. The art was great. We had a docette give us a quick tour of some of the art. As far as a holiday dinner, function, there was a lot to be desired. The food wasn't very good. The salad was tasteless, the one plate of dinner, consisted of one piece of turkey, a tiny bit of mashed potatoes, from a tube, one carrot, that was raw, and raw green beans as well. The service was very slow and we waiting quite a while to get to the next portion of our dinner. the dessert was so tiny, the cake was the size of my finger. Extremely thin piece of cake. Ridiculous! Would not return again, for a dinner. however, being an artist, the gallery part of the art gallery was interesting.

I went there for the first time, and I was impressed with the displays. The place is not that big, but the exhibits are varied and interesting. I will certainly come back for a second visit. The only negative comment (sort of) that I would like to make is that I found some of the descriptions of the exhibits are a little bit confusing. I was not sure at times which description was related to which display.

Jodie as the event organiser and Helena the chef and all of their amazing staff created a gorgeous and memorable wedding on October 5th. We used every inch of the beautiful space from the sculpture garden to the Ross Fisher Gallery to the Pavillion and all exhibits in between. Our 160 plus guests loved the food and all the spaces. Truly a wonderful experience.

The single most boring art gallery I have ever been in. I have heard they have an impressive permanent collection. but for some reason they choose not to show any of it.

Don't waste your time here.

Spent some quality time at AGH- Hamilton. This is an outstanding art exhibition venue with lots to see for a layman and a art critic. It is small but stands out for a city like Hamilton which has lot of potential but neglected by provincial and federal level of governments. For art lovers, tourists and those with some free time this place is worth visiting.

Our first visit to this gallery. We really enjoyed the special exhibit on Canadian comic book art - well put together and simply fascinating. The rest of gallery is really good as well. The permanent collection has some real gems and would make it worth the visit alone, for any art enthusiast. A nice building with a decent gallery shop.

Spacious galleries, beautiful permanent collection. AGH attracts impressive exhibits from around the world while nurturing it's connections to its community. From film programming to art education and social events, AGH is a true community hub. Visitors shouldn't miss the café or the gift shop, either - local artists' and artisans' works are sold their, offering very personal and unique gifts that will support the arts in Hamilton directly.
