It's a great place to picnic and explore. All ages will enjoy seeing the lock and lift cycle. A bit of stair climbing involved for those that want to see more.

I was fortunate to see the locks in operation during my visit here. It is a wonder of modern engineering.

The Rideau Canal with its locks and boats is a great place to visit and have a picnic in summer. Swimming is also great at Jones Falls!

As suggested, it's the gates that create the falls. May be that's why the name falls. But i too do not know of actual fall. There is plenty of information available on their official website, you may want to check..
