After a long drive from Vaughan where we have been staying we arrived in London Ontario which at best may be described as ‘a bit run down’.
However the jewel in the crown is Banting House. I have been type 1 for 54 years and entering the house was quite an emotional experience due to the magnitude of the idea which came out of the place. Volunteer guide Tony took us around the house and didn’t miss a beat - great guy.

What a wonderful place to visit, when you are in London?! I had a private tour with Terry (who rarely does tours anymore) and she provided 1.5 hours of knowledge, interest and engagement. You'll learn so much and truly appreciate more about the care for people with diabetes. Make sure you take time to sit on the bed of Dr. Banting where he woke up with his "aha" moment.

Do you want to learn about the discovery of insulin? This the place where everything started.....Historical facts with interesting anecdotes from the curator. An interesting experience. Most Londoners should know!

Dr. Banting’s home/ office has been turned into a museum in London Canada. He is an amazing man who discovered a technique to harvest insulin as well as how to deliver this live saving/extending product to type 1 diabetics in 1922.
The home is beautifully maintained, and the tour guides are knowledgeable. The good doctor’s furniture and even Nobel prize are proudly on display. Even the original wallpaper is present in the room where he conceived his “flash of genius”.
I was very pleased with the experience, and would highly recommend a visit for all in healthcare passing through or visiting London, Ontario.

One of our New Year's Resolutions was to see more of our London. This was our first go and it was well worth the $10 we spent. Sergio was our great volunteer tour guide and his interest and knowledge of the house was obvious. Great presentation on Canada's first Nobel prize winner.

I brought my four-year old son here one afternoon at the start of his summer vacation. We always drive by and he asks about the flame, so I figured it would be interesting to visit.
I never really gave Dr. Banting and his discovery of insulin much thought, since no one I know has diabetes, but now that we have visited and seen the impact his discovery has on millions of lives, I feel very proud that this house is part of London heritage.
I think it's important that everyone living in London or visiting take some time to visit this house and learn about Dr. Banting's incredibly important medical discovery.
Even though my son is only four, our wonderful tour guide made it very interesting for him. They even have a photo scavenger hunt for young children to do as we were guided through the house. It's very well done and an important place to visit.

We were pleased to be able to view the house where the inventor of insulin lived in London. Near the downtown area and easy to find.

The museum was interesting, the first floor is very nicely laid out and is easy to follow. Would recommend going however, not for little children as there is a lot of reading.

Dr. Banting's achievement, the discovery of insulin, is highlighted in this home/museum
The guide that accompanied us, a Masters history student, was exceptionally well informed and made the history of the development of insulin and Dr. Banting's life history come alive
This historical landmark should be better promoted

I have lived in London all my life and had never attended. It was well worth the visit.
This is the house in which Sir Frederick Banting conceived the concept of insulin to treat diabetes - a previously fatal condition. While it isn't a cure, diabetics can live a normal long life due to the idea he had in the middle of the night in the room he slept in in this house.
The building was also the location of his medical practice and his clinic rooms are still there with period equipment displayed.
There are also rooms dedicated to telling the story of Banting, and of insulin, and the guides are very, very knowledgeable, approachable, and easy to chat with.
