We stopped by on the last day of our 2 week road trip to enjoy a relaxing walk and view of the port. Parking right next to the port is free and easy. The walk along the waterfront is very accessible, with a wide path and plenty of benches to rest on. There’s a restaurant right at the port called Snug Harbour, but we weren’t around long enough to stop in for lunch. Our only complaint is that we experienced some very aggressive driving in downtown Mississauga, which was pretty jarring for us as tourists. So unfortunately, we ended up heading out as the day was no longer feeling relaxed after that.

Port Credit area has 2 water fronts. The port section has the light house on the road and walkway on the shoreline. This also has the Snug Harbour restaurant. But there is a challenge with parking as there's only pay parking on the road.
The other one is the J.C. Saddington park is a nice park with plethora of grass areas, seating benches, lake shore and rocky areasto seat and enjoy the views. Also it has 2 large parking areas. Very good view of the sunrise behind the solitary ship on the lake. It is really nice to have a walk during morning or evening.

The views are great and the park is well laid out.
There is a waterfront path which offers great views of marina and water and has a few restaurants with great water views. There were a few paddle boarders and small oats.
The light house was quaint as well.

Parking enforcement in Port Credit is unreasonable. I parked, walked a few car lengths to buy a parking receipt from a machine, and the parking enforcement officer was already at my car writing the ticket. When I called out that I was just buying the ticket, the response was "you should have said something sooner"!
If you must go, insist that someone sit behind the wheel of your car while you walk to put money in the machine. Apparently you can't be issued a ticket so long as someone is at the wheel.
Better yet, do yourself a favor - go a few miles west to Oakville. It is a much nicer area; better stores and higher quality restaurants; the parking people don't lunge out of nowhere to issue tickets unreasonably. Now I understand why Mississauga claims to not have to raise local taxes - they must make a fortune from innocent visitors trying to park.

Port Credit is Mississauga's lakeshore portion. It is quaint, there are a few historic buildings and a lighthouse on Lakeshore Blvd. I'd prefer Toronto's Harbourfront area much more than Port Credit (in terms of things to do in the area), but Port Credit is very clean and peaceful, it is perfect for a leisurely stroll.
Another thing you can do in Port Credit is to go kayaking or rowboating on the Credit River. That experience is quite fantastic.

Lived in Central Port Credit for just over a year and I must say the neighborhood is an eclectic mix of the artsy cafe and the high end restaurant. The location on the waterfront is fantastic in the summer and makes for a good walk or bike on the long beautiful pathways.
Great but expensive place to live and a good place to spend an afternoon.

Crowded, overpriced, almost no where to park. Cyclists are constantly running you down on the sidewalks. All the shops have pretty much the same stuff you can find in any neighbourhood but at Yorkville prices. The music on the weekends is lame beyond compare and only attracts tens of people. Parking is expensive and enforcement is brutal. Stay away from the skateboard area at the north end of Memorial park if you have children.

This neighbourhood has been home for almost 9 years now. It is perhaps the best place to be in all of Mississauga. I am definitely biased but who can blame me? I live here.
Popular sights/attractions include:
• the Port Credit lighthouse –red and white and impossible to miss; said to be the most photographed building in the city
• the Port Credit harbour and boardwalk
• Credit Village Marina and boats (spring/summer)
• the Ridgetown – lake bulk freighter serving as breakwater to the harbour
• St Lawrence Park Gazebo lookout to Lake Ontario
• the Waterfront Trail and parks
• fishing in the Credit River
• the yearly festivals and events
There is always something happening in Port Credit, no matter the season, though undoubtedly summer is the busiest time. With more daylight hours to enjoy the outdoors, the “village on the lake” comes alive with both local residents and visitors out and about.
Some of the much-anticipated annual events in Port Credit include:
• Mississauga marathon (Apr/May) – runners traverse the scenic Waterfront Trail; finish line is located at Lakefront Promenade Park
• Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival (Jun) –usually first Sunday of Jun - dragon boat racing at the Credit River; races start at 8:30AM
• Mississauga Waterfront Festival (Jun) – usually Fathers’ Day weekend – concerts, crafts, games, carnival rides, food vendors
• Port Credit Farmers Market (Jun to Oct) – Saturdays, 8AM to 1PM – at Lakeshore Rd E corner Elmwood Ave N – fresh produce and more
• Paint the Town Red (Jul ) – Canada Day - Parade at 11AM on Lakeshore Rd E from Stavebank Rd S to Seneca Ave, giant cake-cutting afterwards in front of La Villa Bakery (free cake for everyone), then tribute concerts at Port Credit Memorial Park until fireworks display at 10PM
• Port Credit Busker Fest (Aug) – simultaneous busker acts at various performance areas culminating in a finale show at Port Credit Memorial Park
• Southside Shuffle Blues and Jazz Festival (Sep) – Paid admission required to gain access to Port Credit Memorial Park. However the Street Shuffle on Saturday afternoon is a free event. Lakeshore Rd E west of Hurontario St is closed to vehicular traffic while 20+ blues bands within walking distance perform on the street, rain or shine.
Port Credit is teeming with food options so dining is not a problem. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, burger joints, pizzerias, bakeries and ice cream/gelateria shops to choose from. Ethnic food enthusiasts have a choice of Indian, Greek, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Japanese, even Jamaican cuisine, more so during festivals when food vendors set up their stalls at Port Credit Memorial Park. Also, as temperatures warm up (mid-April), al fresco dining areas crop up as some restaurants and bars open their sidewalk patios and build temporary wooden boardwalks for pedestrian use.
On-street parking is free on Sundays. For the past several years, parking in Port Credit is free (and all parking meters are covered) for the entire month of December, that is, thanks to the Port Credit BIA. But for the rest of the year, on-street paid parking is strictly enforced Mon to Sat between 10AM and 5PM ($1 per hour, max 2 hours). I have seen quite a number of cars get a $30 ticket especially between 4:30-5PM.
However, free parking should not be an issue if you know where to find them. Here are a few free parking locations visitors should be aware of:
• Stavebank Rd S (back of Snug Harbour Restaurant)
• Front St N (west of Credit River)
• Port Credit Library parking lot – closed on Mississauga Waterfront Festival days
• Lakeshore Rd E corner Elmwood Ave N (beside LCBO) – closed on Farmers Market days
• Back alley of Lakeshore Rd E corner Hiawatha Pkwy
• Lakeshore Rd E corner Cayuga Ave
Park lovers have their pick of several waterfront parks to stroll, bike or simply hang around.
• JC Saddington Park – with picnic areas, playground, fishing
• JJ Plaus Park (behind Snug Harbour Restaurant) – with water’s edge esplanade
• Port Credit Memorial Park (beside library and Port Credit Memorial Arena) – with picnic areas, skateboard park, basketball court, gazebo and accessible playground
• St Lawrence Park – with esplanade and gazebo lookout to Lake Ontario, St Lawrence Starch plaques, and swing set playground
• Tall Oaks Park – park hours 7AM – 11PM
• Hiawatha Park – with playground
• Adamson Estate – manor, folly, barn and grounds
• Further east, cross the Cooksville Creek Bridge to Lakefront Promenade Park
What I like best about Port Credit is the fact that it is walkable, truly pedestrian-friendly. I doubt I’ll ever grow tired of walking around here. Whether out on an errand or simply for exercise, walking the streets of Port Credit is a pleasant experience. For a more scenic walk, we follow the Waterfront Trail from St Lawrence Park to Adamson Park. When we want to explore more of the trail, we take our bikes and either head to Lakefront Promenade to the east or go west past the lighthouse towards JC Saddington Park all the way to Ben Machree Park.
So that’s the gist of it. Port Credit is obviously Mississauga’s go-to destination. It offers something for everyone, be it food, shopping or recreation. For me, I am content to call it home.

Just visited the Port this past spring weekend with family. To be precise, we visited the J.J. Plaus Park (on Lake Ontario, east side of the river) which is one of 3 small parks to be found at the confluence of the Credit River and Lake Ontario.
What did the attraction provide on a sunny day?
1- watching the well-to-do slowly leaving from, and returning to, the harbor on their boats literally feet away (best time of day is generally early - mid morning and late afternoon)
2- birds of various species abound (gulls, geese, swans, jays, cormorants, etc., etc)
3- young, old, families, partners , , , , , everybody is smiling :-)
4- the opportunity to "stretch" one's vision by attempting to look across Lake Ontario's waters (good luck!) - a great respite from suburban and and city sight-lines.
5- a great point of discussion about the Great Lakes bulk carrier SS Ridgetown (built 1905 - 549 ft long) partially sunk to act as a breakwater in 1974
6- the future opportunity to have a chat with my granddaughter and to ask her, , , , "Honey-bee, , ,do you remember when we went to the big lake and picked pine-cones when you were 2 1/2?" And knowing the answer will be "no Pop's but that is a big smile on your face."
Just perfect for a sunny day stroll for people of all ages. Enjoy the view, enjoy the fresh air and make the time to be with those that are close! Certainly worth the memories.

There aren't any kayak rentals in Port Credit but you can rent them at nearby conservation areas. It would not allow me to include the link in the reply, but if you do a google search for the Credit Valley Conservation website you can find more information there.
