De Code Adventures offers live action, team-based games. Players (4-6) are “locked” in a room and must explore their surroundings (discover clues, solve puzzles, and perform tasks) to “escape”. Games are meant to follow a distinct theme with puzzles that follow a set narrative. Each game ought to take no more than 60 minutes. My wife and I visited De Code Adventures yesterday with our daughter (17) and son (15). The facility currently offers three games (“Mission: Quazar”, “The Mutagen Effect”, and “The Darkest Hour”). We attempted the “Mission: Quazar” challenge and, unfortunately, failed. “Mission: Quazar” is an extremely difficult challenge, even for veterans like us, boasting only a 5% success rate without hints. The adventure needs to be retooled! Case and point, it took us experts 20 minutes and a hint just to get past the adventure’s first puzzle, and we have successfully completed 14 separate escape games in the last year alone. Regrettably, everyone in the group left the adventure at the end of 60 minutes frustrated, disappointed, and angry. Not fun! Maybe you will have better luck than us. Between four and six players can play this alien-themed game. Look for De Code Adventures at 6620 Kitimat Road in the Ontario municipality of Mississauga. Except for Tuesdays, the facility is open daily for gameplay. Book your adventure online. Admission is $26.99 per player (excluding tax), and participants must sign a waiver. Outside food is not permitted in the facility, and currently masks are mandatory. Be sure everyone on your team arrives at least 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled game time so gameplay can start on time.

We’ve been to many escape rooms and so far, whenever we are bringing new people and want to be sure of a quality experience, we choose De Code. If you’ve not tried an escape room before, it’s a must do and bring at least 3 friends/family members as everyone has a different way of thinking that contributes to the experience. By quality, I mean multiple rooms, puzzles that all work, not hearing things going on in adjacent rooms, helpful staff, etc. De Code has all of that with games of varying levels of difficulty. This time, we did The Mutagen Effect and it was awesome! We were also awarded time for free board game play and they have a really extensive offering of games, a great room, and an offering of snacks in case you get hungry. Plus, if you follow them on social, you get a discount. Parking is easy and free right next to the door.

It's not just a great escape but also an incredible board game cafe with some delicious snacks and great games selection. The game itself was twisted and we failed but it definitely was interesting and quite challenging.

This review is just for the gaming cafe area. While they also have a few escape rooms as well, we only used the games cafe. It was my first visit. And I must say parking was a challenge! Both the escape rooms and cafe we very busy! And we got there around 4pm !
I came with some friends to get some serious board game play!!! And I must say I am beyond grateful I brought 3 of my own games from home... because all the games I waned to play were either already being used or not available. :((((. The employees didn’t seem to care about finding a game I wanted.... but were really happy to make our beverages and snacks.
All in all.... we had a great time playing my games. But it would have been way better if they had more comfortable chairs. We would all go again :)

5 people locked in a hot, tiny room with LEGO and duplo all over the floor... my worst nightmare. Clues were a stretch at best and most clues involved some form of math... measurement, tangrams and multiplication. So if you suck at math, this is not the room for you. Not our favourite experience. Been to better escape rooms in the city. Staff were great and friendly.

Child’s play escape room had too many red herrings that had nothing to do with the solutions that wasted our valuable time. There’s no need for that. Overall the experience was just ok. We’ve been to better escape rooms. The staff were nice, though.

We came along to join another couple for a birthday party. It was interesting. I think we picked a pretty difficult level as we really couldnt get going. Many of the clues were a stretch at best so you have to have some experience in doing this as we were afraid to damage things or move things as we thought they were decorations. Once we received more clues and feedback from the staff we got moving. This has nothing to do with intelligence but experience in this kind of activity so don't let your ego get in the way of having fun and choose beginner level if you are new.

The staff was so nice and friendly! We booked online + Liked them on Instagram and received a discount for doing both. I went with my boyfriend and we did the Mutagen Effect room. It was a great multi-room escape challenge with clean and well decorated rooms. The puzzles were a little challenging but not overly difficult, although they were not very linear. After solving a puzzle we had to take a minute to try to figure out what the next step was as, like I mentioned, the puzzles weren't very liner compared to other rooms we have done. A couple of tips for those looking to do this specific room: 1) don't focus much about the music, 2) all the books sit on the bookshelf well ...I don't want to be too specific cause I don't want to give anything away, but once you're in the room you'll know what I mean! A suggestion to the company itself: take out any unecessary elements that people don't need to solve the puzzles as it's really confusing when you're focused so much on one thing but it's not actually needed at all to solve that puzzle. Also, it would be great if there was a little more guidance in a couple of parts (for example making it clearer that the white line is the floor so people don't have to use hints to figure out what that line is, or make it a little clearer as to what is needed to be done with the blue book). Apart from that, we were impressed with the staff, the escape room itself, and the facility. We enjoyed our adventure and will be coming back for more!

It was a fun-filled 60 mins for us, the 2 couples, that visited. We were almost at finishing line but got miffed at the very end. Recommend it for a mental workout, race against the clock and just good team work! Do it!

Went with 5 other people - age ranged from 14-28 yrs old.The difficulty level for this room is rated 4/5. We managed to finish with a bit more than 15 minutes to spare; no hints! This was our second time as a group trying out an escape room with the exception of one person who's done multiple rooms (mostly escape rooms in Toronto).

Very relaxed and friendly environment from the moment we stepped into the building. They offered a discount if you post something about De Code on social media that we all definitely took advantage of.

No front parking space when we went on a Saturday afternoon but a lot of space at their back parking lot. Lockers were available for us to store our belongings. No phones allowed in the room - probably to keep us from looking things up as we went along and to also keep us from posting/spoiling the room for others.

Each person contributed in solving the puzzles. It was fun and very interactive. We will be coming back to try other rooms.

After we finished we were directed to the board game room where there was a lot of space and tables. There is also a snack bar in the corner!

Definitely a must-try!
