Wonder and awe behind the thunder
The kids couldn’t wait to see the falls from this perspective. Although the lower deck is closed, there’s another observation deck that takes you to a spot about 50 m from the top of the falls. It’s up close and personal. While it is misty, we didn’t get noticeably wet. We went to two other windows behind the falls. The thunderous sound of the Falls is otherworldly. Despite the tacky road leading up to the falls, this really is a wonder of the world. If you have time to do more than 2 attractions, there is a Wonder Pass that makes it financially friendly.

Pretty cool, though a bit pricey
The experience doesn't take more than about 20 minutes. You go down in an elevator and walk through a tunner to one of two viewing areas where you're right behind the falls. It's pretty cool to stand so close and feel the power of the falls. The viewing areas are a bit small, and we went at a time that wasn't particularly busy. We didn't have to wait at all, but would caution at a busier time that you may need to wait to get to the front. We also got a close up of the falls from the Niagara Parks Power Station which I would say was a better experience overall if you can only choose one.

    Refreshing on a Hot Day
I did this as part of a day tour, so I only had to queue up to get into the location. This was a good thing, because the ticket queue was as long, if not longer than the one to go on the Journey. You should be prepared for chilly and damp (well, it is behind a waterfall, after all), but you will be issued a plastic poncho to keep off the worst of the wet. There are a couple of "windows" to the falls, so you can see the water sheeting down and there is an outside viewing platform. That view is something else.

Better experience when the lower deck is open (i.e., not in the winter time)
We had visited with our sons a few years ago, in the spring, and this was an AMAZING experience. Even though the lower deck is closed in the winter, we decided to go on this tour again. Well, i have to say, save this for the spring, summer or fall, when the lower deck is open. Even though it was still thrilling to see the falls from such a close angle, it's not worth the money if you can't go to the lower deck. For some reason, all the information boards in the tunnels were not there this time around..

I would suggest just doing the boat tour, this line isn’t worth it for what you see.
This is a hard review to give. The line is very long and I’m not sure it is any better than the boat trip that comes up to the falls. The two tunnels that you go look at when you are down there are somewhat pointless, all you see is water? I would probably just do the boat tour.

Fun to see the falls from a different view!
Seeing the falls from this perspective was amazing. The people working the attraction were friendly and informative. We went over Memorial Day weekend, and the line was extremely long. We pre-purchased our tickets for a 2pm times slot. We got on the line at 1:40 pm and entered the attraction at 2:50 pm. I hope that the lengthy wait time is not the norm, and that the crowd and long line was because it was a holiday weekend in the U.S. Once in the attraction, there were more lines in order to see the lookout points from inside, prior to the end where you are out on a deck. You are permitted to skip those lookouts and go straight to the deck area. We looked at both, but if the lines are long, I recommend checking one out and skipping the other, as I think they are similar. I don't mean to dissuade anyone from doing this experience, because it was interesting, but be careful about timing reservations for dinner, or another activity following this one, especially on weekends and other busy times.

    Worth It!
They provide a poncho, so don't worry. I would recommend skipping the long lines in the tunnels and go straight to the observatory. The tunnels are ... listen! You take a picture with water few feet behind you. Really? Don't waste your time. The jewel is the observation because you get the full view of the falls and its where the real fun is!

Great to see, bring ear plugs
Bit short, not a ton of information but still neat! Expect to wait in a dark tank tunnel with shrieking teens who have discovered it echos and just acknowledge you’ve entered the 1st circle of hell for 30 minutes. But once you get to the falls, it’s amazing. You can hear and feel the power. Even with the noise I’d go again.

    Caution.
It was ok. We waited in a long line to get to what we thought was the main spot. We ended up in the tunnel, which at the end only allowed you to take a pic from inside the tunnel. Not at all worth the wait. The best place is the observation deck. Don't bother with the tunnel.

    Not a must see
This was a little disappointing. No tour guide. You literally take an elevator down, walk through a tunnel where one view is out like a window to “see behind the falls.” Then the other view is to take a picture of the waterfalls which you can do from the side of the road. If you are on the fence of doing this tour or not I would say skip it and spend the money elsewhere.

Interesting trip to go behind Niagara Falls and see the falls close up. A bit expensive and no narration. A few signs along the way to tell you about the construction of the tunnels. They do give you a poncho to help keep you dry.

Don't listen to the hype. This is definitely not worth it. They don't tell you that you have to walk down and up a two-mile long corridor!

Although this was interesting to get behind the Falls and feel the force of all that water crashing down, I think this is way overpriced for the experience. We were lucky to go on a day with very little queueing, which I'm super relieved about having read some other reviews on here. I was also glad we had not done this as a family as I don't feel the money would have been well spent.

It is fun to think one is standing behind the big falls - and the exterior viewing point in front of the falls (vs. the points actually behind the falls) is very good - but the actual experience "behind the falls" is just not that great.

You take an elevator down and walk out to a low-level view point of Horseshoe Falls. This point gives one a great view of the falls. It's the highlight of the "Journey." While a very good view, I don't think I would have kicked myself if I had skipped this [mid-level] view and just enjoyed the [high] views from above the falls and [low] views from the boat ride to the falls. You are provided ponchos to avoid getting wet from the spray.

Why the sub-par review? The key selling point of the "Journey" is the "behind the falls" part. After stopping at the good exterior viewing deck, you continue down some tunnels that cut into the rock behind the falls. There are windows (small cave entrances) cut out from the tunnels to the back side of the falls. A fence keeps you from getting too close to the falls themselves. I have hiked behind a few falls though the years and love doing that - the views have been beautiful and in some cases stunning. But in this case, all your really see from "behind the falls" is a solid gray sheet of water in front of a tunnel entrance. It really did not strike me as particularly visually interesting.

They WILL give you a poncho and you may get damp, but not really wet. It is worth a wait, if there is a queue, as you step up right under the falls, feeling the power and force. A unique way to see the falls, through man made tunnels. It is an experience!

We came early October (Canadian Thanksgiving weekend) and the attraction was very crowded. You waited in line to look out the portals, and even then you couldn't get all that close. I'd hate to see what this was like at peak season. Go to The Tunnel at Niagara Parks Power Station instead.

Our initial plan was to do Maid of the Mist, but I think this is better. It was really neat to walk through the tunnels and be behind and in front of the falls. It would be nice to have a guided tour with some history, but I don't think the space would support it. You can get some great pics on this tour. No need to go on a crowded boat.

This is definitely a must when visiting Niagara Falls. You enter at the visitors center on the Canadian side. You get a up close and personal view of the falls and a little spray for the falls. Poncho provided.

Great experience! I had read about the tunnels being opened up to the public and we both though it was so cool! The sounds, the sight from observation decks, the lookouts right behind the falls had been made for Wishing!! We tossed in for our special wishes and they came true! We had an amazing trip thank you Niagra Falls for new experiences every time!

Must see view from the edge of the Horseshoe falls and behind the falls. We’ll organized, wear your ponchos! The view from the edge is a must see, but the spray is insane! Fantastic angle of the falls going over below table rock. Also the cuts under the falls! Highly recommend.
