We visited De Simone Winery last fall. This winery has outstanding wines, which were served to us by Vince, the owener of De Simone Vineyards. At the end of our wine tasting, we purchased a $55 bottle of 2018 Merlot.
Six of us had a blind wine tasting evening at our home, with four of us being wine connoisseurs who have travelled all over the world tasting wines. We drank a $100 bottle of 2009, Antiche Cantine dei Marcchesi di Barolo, from Barolo, Italy, as well as a $250 bottle of 1998, Chateau Lynch Bages Grand Cru Classe from Pauillac, France. We also added to our assortment of six bottles, the $55 bottle of 2018, Merlot, from De Simone Vinyards, Niagara-on-the-Lake, here in Ontario. We were amazed and surprised to uncover this gem, especially when compared to the expensive Old World reds!! We found this Merlot to be a full bodied red, with wonderful tannins. Everyone placed this De Simone Merlot at the top of their list!! Hands down it was a winner above the rest. Pick up a case today. You will not be dissappointed.

Wow. We were so pleased with the wine at De Simone Vineyard. Vince (owner and wine maker) was so knowledgeable about their wines and such a lovely person. We liked our tasting so much we had to bring some home. Looking forward to pairing them with so many different foods. As you drive into Niagara-on-the-Lake, start your trip off right with a tasting at De Simone on 55 before you get to Virgil. It will be worth the stop.

Visited this weekend as part of the Sip and Sizzle passport visit. First visit but very impressed with the wine tasting plus the pairing. Small batch winery with a young winemaker but based on what we tasted has something great going on. Took home a couple of bottles. Victoria was a great host.

I don’t know why we decided on ending our wonderful day of wine tasting on a sour note with this winery, such a huge disappointment. I have to be honest and say not with the wines but the impersonal service. First of all the greeting seemed so solemn and the young server stood incredibly far away from us (as a black couple), when we looked around and saw that the other server didn’t with his caucasian customers. He was very monotone and uninterested as he recited a rehearsed spiel. The worse was a stereotypical remarked at the end and I was livid, done and couldn’t wait to rush out of there...”Check your employees blind spots, before they interact with all customers!”

It’s unfortunate...We know that your review is completely untrue and we are confused by it. All of our tastings are recorded for review which comes in handy for instances like this. After reviewing our video surveillance and the entire tasting, in actuality you and your husband Ruben, seemed to have had a enjoyable time, that’s why it’s unfortunate. We treat all of our customers with respect and expect the same in return. After reviewing the tasting footage, the employee welcomed you in with a loud friendly “hello welcome to DV, have you been here before? No, fantastic, would you like to do a tasting? Absolutely follow me I’ll get you seated”. The tasting was great, the employee did a fantastic job explain all about our winery and vineyard. The employee even sat you’ in the VIP section, leather seats overlooking the beautiful vineyard.
Although he didn’t recognize you as a so called “ celebrity chef“, we feel that’s where your energy to write this review came into place. That’s fine but understand no racial remarks were made what so ever due to the audio playback of the video. In fact that is defamation of character and is unacceptable. The video also shows Ruben coughs quite violently during the tasting and the employee does takes a step back then goes and gets water. Given the fact that there is a airborne virus going around I can understand a step back in hesitation.
Do we as a company feel our employee did anything wrong? Absolutely not.
All Employees must social distance and wear masks during COVID. We are sorry that you do not agree with our social distancing policies as they are set into place by our government and town. We are to provide a safe tasting experience, so if an employee is social distancing, I would respect it as it’s policy, not racial.

I participated in a corporate wine tasting at De Simone Vineyards in July 2024. Our host Victoria described one of the wines as something that would pair nicely with Mrs. Vickie’s chips. I recalled seeing those chips for sale at the entrance and bought three bags to be shared among my colleagues in the wine tasting room. Just after my co-workers opened the chips Victoria paused her description of the wine and asked me whether I had paid for them. As the only person of colour in our group I felt the unfounded accusation was solely motivated by Victoria’s prejudice. I did not feel welcome at the property and will not be patronizing De Simone Vineyards.

This is an amazing winery to visit. It’s a small one and fairly new (only 3 years old) but had an awesome selection of wines. The owner explained each and every wine in great detail and his passion for his business was very clear. Definitely worth a visit!

Unexpected and delightful stop for wine slushies . Who ever heard of a wine slushy? Congenial staff explained how they are made We spent 1/2 hour sipping the deliciousness on their lovely patio overlooking a small vineyard. Very reasonable for size of pour. Other patrons were enjoying flights of wine tasting which looked generous. Bottles available for purchase. Definitely recommend.

Wow! This place is small but wonderful. We ended up at De Simone on a weekday afternoon because it was a 5 minute walk from our Airbnb. Our host at De Simone, Jessica, was friendly and informative and did a great job telling us about each of the wines. We enjoyed all of our samples and purchase several bottles. We will definitely be back!

I cant say enough about this small, boutique winery. Rather than the standard wine tasting, I opted for the S'Merlot (s"mores and merlot) I was greeted by Vincenzo, the owner/winemaker maker) and I throughly enjoyed learning a bit of the history of the vineyard and loved hearing about future plans. The s'mores were a nice treat, but the merlot was fantastic (I had to buy a bottle). Thank you Vincenzo for your hospitality. I will definitely be back next time I'm in NOTL and I'm already telling everyone I know about your little gem.

We visited in the summer of 2018, and I was impressed by the service. Upon our return this December, we went straight to De Simone, bypassing a lot of the other wineries as I knew that this was one of my local favorites.
The wine is excellent and the service is even better. I HIGHLY recommend this place. While they have award winning ice wine, they also have products that aren't nearly as sweet. So, they have something for everyone.
