About
Pillitteri Estates Winery proudly continues a family tradition of viticulture and winemaking excellence. For Gary Pillitteri, the opening of Pillitteri Estates Winery in June of 1993 was the culmination of a lifetime dream. Today the Pillitteri family continues his dream and tradition of quality, having received over 1000 wine awards from around the world. New to Pillitteri in 2020 is BarrelHead Restaurant. BarrelHead opens daily at Noon, serving wood fired pizza, gourmet salads and unique Icewine cocktails. Join us for winery tour and tasting experiences at one of our many tasting bars, on our patio or experience our winery education centre. Enjoy a wine tour as a guide will take you through the winemaking process, from vineyard, through press house to our one of a kind barrel cellar. Learn about the Pillitteri family's winemaking journey from a small town in Sicily to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. With 3 generations involved in the winery's operation it is a true family business.

- IAlToronto, Canada224 contributionsGot a behind the scenes tour of the wine makingWe enjoyed our wine tour of the Pilliteri Estates. It seemed that as we came as a private tour with Niagara Vintage Wine Tours and our tour sommelier and the Pilliteri staff doing our tour (Rob) knew each other personally, we got a behind the scenes tour. We toured the estate, the underground cellars with the wine barrels 20ft below (my favourite part), the massive grape press machinery, the architecture of the new buildings, the appasamento (sp) style of wine making unique to this particular wine estate and the marketing and packaging of their wines which they export globally. We also got a history of the Pilliteri family and how 3 generations of the family still actively work within this winery business today. I loved that in the wine tasting within their beautifully decorated and furnished private tasting room, we got to taste several different wines (not just 3 wines which is the norm in many estate) including their more high end reserve wines and trivilante. Rob kindly offered us waters to drink, as well. This was a fun experience and the only thing I would say is that if the wine tour can be timed with a walk on the fields or seeing the grape press machinery in action or seeing more of the behind the scenes action, it would be fantastic and highly educational.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten December 30, 2022
- marilync120Hamilton, Canada47 contributionsExcellent tourRob gave us a great tour of the facility. We were the only people on the tour, so Rob tailored the wines we tasted to us. This winery is rich in family history. Stunning metal artwork throughout. Excellent wines to taste. Really enjoyed the very informative tour and tastes.Visited March 2023Written March 9, 2023

- GausianNew York City, New York3 contributionsNice wineryWines were average but tour was good with some history of the family who started the business. Only issue I felt worth mentioning is kids should not have to pay for the tour, I believe they didn’t mention it on the website. The guy at the cashier was a little rude about it, when I mentioned that the website should at least mention that kids should pay for the tour! Overall the tour guide was nice and knowledgeable. We even bought some ice wines at the end of the tour. The restaurant on site was great bonus too as kids were very hungry at the end of tour!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 25, 2023

From the parking lot, you can’t see much for all the plantings but then…behind the gate awaits a warm, rustic and inviting space. Under an angled roof or amongst the trees, one dines on fresh salads and made to order pizzas that are so yummy. Our server Leah was excellent and the live music by Matt Taylor further added to our enjoyment. Well done, Mike!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 25, 2023

Had a really great time at this winery. I had the BEST pizza that I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to Italy!! The wines that we tried were very good and settled on the double pressed. I highly recommend visiting this winery with its great food, drink and staff.

Wine tasting way better than expected thanks to a passionate student who works the vineyard but was in the tasting room. Bought several bottles to share back home in CT. Probably best pizza we’ve ever had……topped off with amazing service from Pam. Don’t miss this vineyard if you are in the area!

We came across the winery through a Google search for ice wines in the region (the largest distributor in the world!). And boy it did not disappoint.
The shop’s set up has a wonderful charm to it and the options are plentiful. We waited about 15 minutes for our guided tour to start which gave us plenty of time to browse the selections.
The tour lasted 30-45 minutes and we received a wonderful overview of the estate from our super knowledgeable tour guide. Each part of the winery had a distinct charm and you felt the family values of the owners throughout the tour.
All the wine selections on the tour (4 in total) were available for purchase afterwards, and the staff was very accommodating if you wanted to sample other selections.
A wood oven pizza was open for lunch, which made for a great ending.
Definitely would recommend. Looking forward to ordering online selections!

Amazing quality of icewine. The variety of options available was awesome. I ended up purchasing some bottles for myself. I wished they could have shipped the wines to my place in California. I would return with a larger bag.
