About
Trius Winery is a Niagara winemaking pioneer. For more than 30 years, we have been crafting fine VQA wines from premium grapes grown in the four appellations of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Nestled between the Niagara escarpment and Lake Ontario, we have made our home in a wine growing region that provides the diversity to grow a number of varietals in unique growing conditions. Our winery provides both a wine and culinary journey like no other. A visit to Trius Winery is an unrushed sensory experience, a time out that lets you taste, feel and discover. Our wines and menus are inspired by the seasonal evolution of the vines that surround us, and the local produce that grows beside them. Our wines, our dining, and our daily events for the wine lover and Wine Club members make Trius Winery the perfect destination for your wine country visit.

    The BEST wine tour!
WOW! This tour was a trip highlight for sure. The photo ops were amazing, there was lots of variety, and the right amount of education. Greg(?) was the most amazing tour guide I have come across and suited the vibe of our group perfectly. We were a large group paired with a few others and he did a great job of making everyone feel included and welcomed, and kept us laughing the whole time. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone - if you’re going to do one, make it this one!!

    The cutest winery!!!
This winery is so cute! We did the Truis Tour and got access to places on the property that aren’t usually accessible to the public. Literally the cutest and “most instagrammable” spots on the property. Definitely coming back on my next visit to Canada.

    Attractive Property
They did not have a wine bar tasting setup and we were not looking for a 45 minute sit down tasting consisting of (4) 2oz pours each for $54 a couple. Instead, we went to the gift shop area and bought their very good Ghost Creek Reisling and walked the vineyard as well as sitting in an arbor area enjoying the day. A full restaurant on site as well as lodging affiliated with the vineyard.

My husband and I have been going to Trius for 12 years now and we have always had a 10/10 experience.. ALWAYS !!!!
We have been on and off wine club members since 2008 (only putting our membership on hold when we can’t fit any more wine in the cellar)
January and February we visited Trius and we served in the LOFT BY Alina (I believe that’s the spelling of her name)
100% both times she was rude and condescending .. to the point where my husband and I kinda chucked and thought wow how can someone like that actually work here . I even tried to kill her with kindness and that did not work at all . we have had many many many years being spoiled by Kevin and Christine both PHENOMENAL .. and both still there thankfully. But when you visit Niagara-on-the-Lake wine country you go with the intention of mingling with other guests, exploring the new tastes and generally planning a fabulous day

it’s been 2 weeks,we are still down about our experience.. we were with another couple who that day purchased the wine club membership from Peller (our first stop) and both commented on Alina’s rudeness and said if that was their first winery they would have never bought a membership..
I reassured them that she was a one off and we all agreed that we would likely walk out if we thought we may have our Trius experience with her..

Im the type of person that never “reacts” and I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt .. but, in this case both incidents were a month apart and we are still down

My wife and I have been been frequenting and had become wine club members at Trius since 2008, back when it was Hillebrand. It has always been our favourite winery and wine! We have referred friends and family, boasting how incredible our experiences at the winery have been and the wine speaks for itself. Well, just over a month ago, we decided to visit and sample some of the new wines. We went to the loft , which has been our go to for getting the immersive experience with sipping the incredible wines and learning about them from the friendly and knowledgeable staff. This time, we were greeted by a new staff member named Alina. Well, from the get go, I would classify her personality as drier than any of the wine. She was very rude, condescending and made no time to explain anything. My wife and I are not judgemental people and we left with a smile on our face and thought, maybe she was just having a bad day. We visited again, this time bringing my in-laws to experience what we always raved to them about ( they actually joined the wine club when we went to Peller estates earlier that day!!). We went to the loft and saw that Alina was there. We were the only people in the room at the time. Now, it wasn’t just coincidence, but she had the same lack of personality, professionalism and rudeness to her as last time! We were fortunate enough to see Kevin and Christine, both staff whom we’ve had previous phenomenal experiences with, make our time at Trius better. My in laws said after we left that if we went there first, they would not have become wine club members due to the very poor service and experience they had by Alina. My wife and I both vowed, next time we visit Trius, if we see Alina working, we will walk out and go to another winery. It is very unfortunate to visit a beautiful place with amazing staff and best in world wines, and have it all shattered by one person. I really hope something can be done, as I am positive we are not the first to experience this lack of customer service from Alina.

We booked a loft black glass tasting during a weekend getaway for my husbands 50th. It was the winery that we for sure wanted to visit so we planned our weekend around the availability after we booked about 2 weeks prior to going. When we got there they told us they were a little behind, then they said they were 30 min behind. After we waited 30 min, they came out and said they “had to call it” and reimburse us because they were not going to be able to let us in. No other options, just sorry, we can’t fit you in. Obviously they screwed up. We didn’t see anyone else from our time waiting, we didn’t see them go to anyone else to say these things. We were ready to buy a few cases here and now we just have a bad taste left in our mouth…..
Terrible customer service. I think they let someone take our place before we got there and then tried to hide it by saying they were behind.

Visiting Pellers estate 3 years ago, we became member of their Winemakers club and discovered some wines of Trius. Since we didn't visit Trius on our previous visit, with
some friends , we would like to do their tour offered with visa infinite
Explore Canada’s largest underground sparkling cellar and enjoy the most Instagrammable winery tour on the planet! ($39 CAD value per person). *Reservations required. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, this tour was not available. So we had 2 affordable options: a seating tasting @ $20pp or the Loft black glass chalenge experience @ $25. We chose the Black glass because they were offering small lots wines and since we are wine lovers , owner of cellars. This is the type of wine we were
looking for. (My idea of Trius is elegancy. We frequently wanted to go from Montreal for a long week end and have a nice dinner with wine at their restaurant.) We went upstair - several table with stool, a large seating bar in U. No wow !!! We chose our flights. I took the Sparkling wine, no bubbles, flat. had another glass. The wine in the black glass was a rose. Didnt really appreciated their wine/ tasting. Maybe was the context. Knowing that, I would chose the seating tasting @ $20-
To tell you the truth, it was my 3 rd tour that week on a Peller group winery, another deception . The purpose of those tours is to know their products and to sell wines.
But only if you like to have their entry level wine. And this is what we have in our 3 tours. There is no places where you can try reserve, or upper level wine in those wineries. I was in their wine club and cancel after 2 years not because we didnt like the wines because the wines were repeated from a shipment to another one. We made good discoveries with those wines. I have to tell you that when we cancelled, nobody tried to retain us . Curious, because when you visit them, they really insist to be part of theirs clubs. Too bad, I also understand that they are doing mass production . We are not part of their niche clientele.

Worst wine tasting or should I say purchases of 2 oz glasses of wine. There was no host at all except this young girl who could pour wine but had absolutely no knowledge of wine or the area. We paid $20 to have 3 2oz glasses with no explanation of what they were or the winery itself. A huge waste of time and money. For my friend it was her first experience and thankfully I work her to another beautiful Chateau winery and got her the experience she deserved. Save your money and find a winery that does more than just pour a short glass....

We lucked out on a private tour with Barry, who led us around the property, including exclusive spaces like the rosé loft, the barrel cellar, and sparkling house. All the while telling us about wine, the history of trius, and even a little bit about his lovely family and their move to the area.
Highlights were definitely Barry’s sabering of a bottle of brut, the wine cellar, and of course the sparkling room. We think this is all worth the price of admission ($40 I think we paid)

Personally, this was not the winery for me. We did the wine tasting, the wines were okay but nothing special. Very little information was provided to us about the wines as the staff was too busy to give us enough details to make the proper picks for ourselves. The crowd was much younger than the other wineries we attended as well. It was not a bad experience, just not one for me.

My family and I had an amazing time on our private wine tour to celebrate my mothers birthday! The selected wines were delicious (we ended up buying a couple on the way out). The winery itself is beyond aesthetically pleasing to the eye, making it an ideal photo op. The art installations were beautiful and dream-like. Our guide Suzanne was a joy to be around, very personable, fun and informative! She has left a great impression on each one of us! We would love to return one day! Overall, I would highly recommend this winery to couples and/ or groups.

We went on the Trius Tour with a friend and her husband for a birthday celebration and mom/dads day out! The tour was amazing and our tour guide Alina was the best. We had an amazing time tasting all of the wines and taking memorable photos together. Would definitely recommend doing the tour if you are coming to this winery - it is unlike any other wine tour I have been on.

Our group of 8 was planning to spend the day in the Niagara on the lakes area and go to 3 wineries. Once we selected the wineries we contacted each of them to ensure that those in our group that did not want to drink wine (designated drivers) would we able to join us. We were told that at Trius they could not join us for the seated tasting as there would be no room but that they could enjoy the restaurant and get snacks/non alcoholic drinks. I also asked about the cool photo ops I had seen on the website and was told after tasting we could take photos. We arrived and were told we needed to check in and were directed to a door, we get there and were told we were in the wrong place it was the restaurant. So we asked about the non drinkers being able to stay and they said that the restaurant was only doing a 3 course menu with wine pairing, the only place our non drinkers could wait at was in the front courtyard area and get drinks from the gift store. Unfortunately the gift shop mainly featured wines. Then we were directed to where we needed to go for our tasting but signage at this place is terrible but we finally figured it out. We get there and were told we would have to wait a few minutes even though we had a reservation. We finally get seated and waited and waited, then overheard the greeter asking a waitress to take our table and she started to complain she had too many tables, etc, etc. It was a warm day and half our table was in the sun, even though we were inside, the big windows were open and we were uncomfortable. After the waitress fought we found the greeter begging another waitress to take our table. We almost left. Finally a waitress came over and eventually took our order. We were done for a long time but could not find our waitress to pay, eventually another server showed up and helped us pay so we could leave. I will say most of the wine was good, some we didn't care for but overall I did enjoy the tasting of the wine but that is the only nice thing I have to say. The location for the tasting was bad, it took too long, it was not set up for those not doing a dedicated tasting and it gave off a "we are doing you a favor by letting you be here" vibe. Then I went to the gift store to buy a bottle to take home and it was over $30. The waiter who checked us out gave us coupons to use. I tried to use it and the clerk told me I couldn't use it, I could only use it for a future tasting, but the waiter had been clear that it was to be used for wine. The last straw was when I had asked about getting into the building near the entrance to take a photo on the champagne cork swing and she told me it was only for people who did the tour. I had explained that when I called I was told if we did the seated tasting and then asked we could get a photo and she said sorry but you can't. My advice, if you are thinking of going here, skip it, drive right by and go one winery over, Gretzky's, they actually treat you like they want you there. If this place put any thought into guest experience this place could be great, but for now it is the worst part of our trip.
