About
Colaneri is a new family-owned and operated winery that hand-harvests the finest grapes to produce premium VQA award-winning wines from its surrounding vineyards. Most of the wines are made with the traditional Italian appassimento style of drying grapes, including a large portfolio of red, white and dessert wines. A new series has been introduced, made in the “recioto” style of making dessert wines. The winery is built in the Romanesque style featuring a captivating panoramic view of the vineyard and escarpment atop the St. David’s Bench appellation. The wine tasting bar overlooks the production area, allowing visitors to see the process. We, La famiglia Colaneri, are always on hand to share the experience and the passion that went into the making of our wines and our winery.

    One of the best!
Just had a tasting experience with Brian - we can say that he knows his stuff, very fun and informative tasting. The vineyard has an interesting history and stories behind each label. I think this is one of the best vineyards which offers consistent quality across the wine portfolio. Definitely some of the best wines in Niagara, the whites have a ton of character, the reds have great longevity and cellaring capability and the ice wine is stellar. If you’re thinking about coming here, just do it

    Top-notch tasting at Colaneri!
We had a really lovely tasting last month at Colaneri. It was our second time visiting but it has been several years since we last visited. We love the grandeur of the property, the wines are some of the best in NOTL, and they have made some big improvements to their tasting room experience. We had the pleasure of going through our structured tasting with Adam - he was excellent, and a lot of fun - we had a great time with him. We picked up 4 or 5 bottles to take home (p.s. fantastic carrying box for purchases!) and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Niagara.

    Eclipse gathering
Came here to watch the eclipse. Tickets were free and included light snacks with glasses of wine to purchase. We had inside and outside seating / viewing. It was very nice and although it was a cloudy day we really enjoyed the experience.

    Fantastic Wine Tasting Experience
My husband and I went for a seated tasting and it was so enjoyable. I have been there before but it was his first time and he was blown away. Our host, Brian was fantastic!! He was very knowledgeable and personable, which made for an overall great wine tasting experience. Colaneri is a winery not to be missed in Niagara on the Lake!

Excellent vineyards and wine tasting at Niagara on the Lake Ontario, Canada.
Had a beautiful time and a great atmosphere at this family owned small independent winery in the Niagara on the lake region of Ontario, Canada. The estate is beautiful, the wines are very good and they have a beautiful cafe that serves gourmet wood fired pizza and antipasto boards. It was very busy on Saturday July 13TH, 2024 but the staffing was right for great customer interactions and experience.

This winery started out as one of our Favourites 6 years ago. Andrzej Lipinski of Big Head winery used to be their Winemaker and many great wines were produced during that time. Unfortunately we have observed a decline in both quality and service over the last couple of years. One of my wife’s favourite wines has been Corposo over the years . Unfortunately she recently purchased four bottles of the 2018 vintage without tasting it. We opened one last week, and found it quite displeasing to the taste. We still had the receipt so decided to return the three unopened bottles to trade for a wine and vintage that we knew we would enjoy. Unfortunately the attendant approached one of the owners in the back, who remained in the back and came back with the answer that they could not take them back because they would be unable to resell them. Even the LCBO has a return policy for unopened bottles. Please be forewarned that you must taste the wine at this winery prior to purchase as they do not stand behind their product. The exterior is beautiful and looks like it is right out of the Tuscan countryside but beware of product and service behind the door. My suggestion would be to drive by and take in the view but carry on to one of the many reputable wineries in the area that stand behind their product.

At minimum, the owner should have come out and confronted us personally to find out what our concerns were rather than hiding behind his staff and sending us away extremely disappointed.

The Site is very pretty, The Villa style Installations from outside are outstanding and offer a great back drop to any picture, short of ne Cedar that was dead to the right of the entrance, clearly the Management team does not pass by often or perhaps care.
That reflected indoors with staff that was not very warm or gentle in there manner, only with barking orders of stay behind the line, don’t look at t-shirts or Aprons unless with a staff member, but there was only one person manning cash register and the displays, with many people waiting , (normal on a Saturday)
Then the wine tasting....rush rush rush, no sooner did we take a sip that we had to decide our next wine to discover. And all were 2 year old vintages...Not really a passionate presentation either but rather a so so rehearsed speech. The wines are Exorbitant in price, selling a wine for 69$ a bottle... insane for a faux Amarone type wine and process.
I would not recommend coming to this Colanieri estate winery. Its an A+ for the tasting room and decor, but wines are not great.

We were a group of three and set up our own wine tour. We usually visit the Niagara region several times a year, but this was our first visit in almost a year. This was the fourth of five winery visits that were completed this trip. A very picturesque, impressive facility. We did not make a reservation for this tasting visit and when we arrived were unable to secure an immediate slot. We were able to book a time slot for later in the afternoon with the host. We recommend booking a reservation for this location in advance. This winery utilizes the Italian appassimento style of wine making extensively which makes it a favourite for us. The tasting was conducted indoors and the associated tasting fees are reasonable. Our host for this visit was very good. She was very knowledgeable with respect to the history of the winery, the unique labelling employed by winery and, of course, the wines themselves. This was a very good experience this visit. We did purchase several bottles at the wine shop at the end of the tasting. We will definitely return for another visit in the future.

We made a tasting reservation at Colaneri and due to a back log at the previous winery we were about 25 minutes late and were very rudely informed by the manager that "you are 35 minutes late and we can no longer accommodate you". I apologized and explained why we were late and asked if they could be flexible and she very sharply said "NO!". The only option we were given was to sit outside and pay for a flight of wine - when we had already paid for our tasting which was non refundable! I asked if it would be possible for them to pour the tasting wines and served them outside - we completely understood that they did not have someone available to talk us through the wines. I explained that we were quite knowledgeable about wine and were happy to taste them on our own. That option was refused. We spoke with Jess (one of the patio servers) and explained our situation and asked if she would be willing to accommodate us. She was happy to but said that she did not have the authority to make that call. She offered to get Chris Colaneri so I could explain our situation to him. Chris reinforced that the only option was for us to pay for a flight and sit outside. I pleaded with him to reconsider and he flatly refused. I explained that I was also in the customer service industry and in his shoes I would choose to be flexible and have a satisfied client. He still refused to accommodate us. I literally asked him if it was about the money and he responded to say 'of course it is about the money'. I told him that I would not give them a good review and he did not care! We left Colaneri and stopped at AMO winery. We did not have a reservation and Shayla could not have been more accommodating and welcomed us in. We had an amazing experience. We met Kamy (one of winery family members). She was lovely and we talked at length with her, Shayla, Michael and Vanessa. The wine was delicious and their brand is very unique. The bottles are work of art. The decor was very chic - we felt like we were in an upmarket NY lounge. Spend your time at AMO.

We stopped by this winery a chilly Thursday morning, hoping to do a tasting. We have visited a number of times previously and quite enjoy their wines. We did not have a reservation and even though there were no customers in the shop, with 4 staff present at that moment, a tasting was not possible. I am well aware of the ongoing pandemic and necessary rules needed, but seriously, 3 of the 4 staff were standing by idle.
That’s ok, we visited 4 other wineries and have found replacements for our Colaneri favourites, and were very satisfied with all of our tasting experiences.
Very disappointing indeed!

On July 12th in afternoon went to experience this beautiful winery with family. As we had a younger child we could not book tasting but wanted to experience the patio with wine and light food.

The hostess was very rude and abrupt and really did not give us impression she wanted to serve us. After being seated, we were brought some water, then ignored for next 10-15 mins while staff wandered all around us and did not take our order.
It was not busy at all, but rather appeared staff were simply not focussed on customers??

This beautiful winery left a bad taste on our palates :(.
Time for owners to focus on the service side so there is no bad grapes out there.

We visit the Niagara on the Lake region 3 or 4 times a year to visit a number of wineries. We have visited Colonari in the past for wine tasting but this was our first visit to their patio. Reservations for the patio are not taken at this establishment. We were a party of six for this visit and had a 45 minute wait to be seated. Flights of wine were ordered – very good. Two pizzas were ordered for the table. Given this is the patio specialty – disappointing – over cooked. Overall, while the setting is outstanding, the experience was disappointing. Given the purpose is to visit a number of wineries waiting 45 minutes for a table is a poor use of time. Combined with disappointing food, we will NOT return to the patio.

This is our second visit to Colaneri and, like the wine produced at this unique winery, the whole experience just gets better! The wine tasting is excellent and the pizza we had on the patio afterwards was, in a word, delicious!

We go to the Niagara region regularly to bike ride and sample its wines. Colaneri is so exceptional that we actually became club members. We have never done this before and we are happy that we did. We discovered Colaneri by accident - we had a bottle of its wine with our dinner at Prime Steakhouse in Niagara. And we will be going back!

If you do decide to go to Colaneri, you will need to make reservation and make sure that you are on time as the tasting is longer than average but very informative. You will not be disappointed.

I tasted their wines in one of the Indian restaurants on Front St, Toronto and the owners of the restaurant was talking good about them. He was into promoting local in the current situations. I liked the wine and made it a point to check them out and we did. This is a beautiful winery, well kept and do have some amazing wines.

This was by far the best experience that I have had at a winery. Jessica explained how all of the wines were made, as well as how the labels came to be. She gave us good advice on which wines we would like to try based on our individual tastes.
