We had a nice time on the tour and our guide Nancy was very talkative and pleasant. However, I don’t feel that this tour (with 4 stops altogether) was worth the $85/couple that we were charged. Maximum $30 given the quantity and type of samples given: Stop 1: a tea and hunk of biscotti Stop 2: bowl of soup and some bread Stop 3: one cracker with slice of meat and melted cheese Stop 4: one small cup of gelato Honestly the soup was the only item where I felt I got my money’s worth. It was a delicious and properly sized bowl of soup at the Prince of Wales Hotel.

My husband and I along with two friends went on the taste of the town tour on thanksgiving weekend. Bill was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The website said I would not need to eat lunch when I was finished with the tour, but the amount of food we received was not nearly enough. I don’t have a big appetite and I was still hungry.

NOTL is a charming town with many interesting historic aspects and on a sunny summer day this tour can be a way to experience it but keep your expectations in check on the food aspect. At the pizza stop we took cold takeout down the street to someone's backyard (nice view), no seats, water or rest stop available - really? I think better arrangements can be made at this price. By the way, the photo in this review shows meat on the pizza - none on ours.

Our tour guide Nancy was very personable. Although we've been coming to NOTL for years, we enjoyed the tour and learned some interesting things about the town's history and architecture that we did not know previously. The tour was about 3 hours, longer than advertised, so bear that in mind when you pay at the parking meter. Also, you'll want to allow time to go back to the places you tasted to make some purchases before you leave town! We enjoyed our tasting at the following stores: Greaves Jams and Marmalades Cheese Secrets Maple leaf fudge The Exchange Brewery Pieza Pizzera Gelato Di Carlotta Please note that some of the stops are not wheelchair accessible, and at the brewery, we were seated upstairs for the tasting. There was a stop at Somerset House B&B to eat the pizza, it was quite some distance from where we picked up the pizza. The B&B did not seem all that welcoming, had just hosed down the porch/lawn/patio so things were a bit damp. Although the view across the lake was awesome, I would just as soon have eaten the pizza on the bench area outside Pieza and then walked to the park for the same view. We went on a Thursday morning tour, so the streets were not thronged with tourists. I would think weekend tours may drag out a bit based on the logistics of dodging sidewalk traffic on busy tourist days. Certainly worth the TravelZoo price we paid.
