About
Our estate winery is set among 40-hectares of pristine vines in the St. David’s Bench. Founded in 1978 by Canadian wine-industry visionary Paul Bosc, the winery continues to innovate with pioneering viticulture research. Wines ranging from well-structured single-vineyard wines to bold reds built for aging, are crafted by Amélie Boury from grapes grown on the winery’s own farms using sustainable farming techniques. Chateau des Charmes is proud to be one of Canada's few Certified Sustainable Wineries.

- janet b2 contributionsBest wine tasting experience!Absolutely the best wine tasting experience! Steve was so knowledgeable and friendly. It was so nice to relax in very comfortable lounge chairs as we enjoyed the pairings of wine and cheese. Of course the wine was superb!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 20, 2024
- Ian C1 contributionThank You Chateau Des CharmesWe visited Chateau Des Charmes during our NOTL trolley tour. This winery was the highlight of our tour. We were very lucky to have had Brian as our wine consultant. Brian wowed us with his warm and friendly personality, great knowledge and phenomenal customer service. He took the time to learn a little about us and what we like and made sure that we sampled many different options that resonated. Needless to say we purchased quite a few bottles to take home and will make this a priority stop anytime we are in the area. One final piece of advice … make sure you try the chocolates they were the absolute best chocolates we have ever tried. 10/10Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2024
- MT13JonesCambridge, Massachusetts12 contributionsSurprise! Niagara has Great Wine!Going into this tasting, I was very skeptical of the wine and the experience. The Château blew my mind on both fronts. The wine was amazing, and because of the knowledgeable staff, I know why. Niagara has a micro-climate! Perfect for growing grapes on par with the best in the world. Thank you, Michelle, for your insight and welcoming spirit! Château des Charmes is great for groups and special accommodations!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 24, 2024
- Jim and Jenn D2 contributionsKicking off a great day in Niagara wine country! We had a wonderful time at Chateau des Charmes on Mar 23. They were gracious enough to open a little early to help us accommodate a full day of touring the region. Bex was our tasting guide. She was warm, personable and knowledgeable, not to mention a lot of fun. She made the hour of sampling Chateau’s fantastic family of award winning Niagara wines extra enjoyable. Chateau des Charmes is one of our favorites so we are frequent visitors there. It’s a beautiful space with great views and great vintages. Our fav’s are their Aligote and the proprietary Gamay Noir Droit. Thanks to Bex for making the visit extra enjoyable. Cheers to you (and your mom!) 😜Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten March 24, 2024
- Tracy NFort Myers, Florida3 contributionsA very welcoming experience! We felt welcomed from the moment we entered the beautiful building. We were seated in a bright room by the window, overlooking the vineyard. We were greeted by our server Karl, who explained the process of receiving our flight of samples, in great detail. He was very knowledgeable and personable and wanted to know why we were there and a little bit about us. We were left in the very capable hands of Francois, when Karl left for his break. Francois, again, was very knowledgeable and told us lots of very interesting facts about the winery . He took the time to teach us about the red wines and also sang a beautiful French song to our birthday girls. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it to our friends. We came to the region last year and attended a tasting at another well known winery and were not welcomed at all. The tasting at Chateau Des Charmes was the complete opposite to our experience last year. This was due to the wonderful people, as much as the delicious wine and food.Highly recommend!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 24, 2024
- Laura M5 contributionsBex and the entire staff make this winery a must visit! We decided to stop in for a glass of wine rather than a flight. We were greeted so warmly into this beautiful chateau and led upstairs to a very comfortable lounge area with a lovely view of the vineyards. Celebrating our friends' 65th birthday, BEX was fantastic in making suggestions and taking the time to chat with us. Part of the winery experience is always the beautiful surroundings and the wonderful people we meet along the way, and thanks to Bex, she made our time at the Chateau memorable. Thankyou so much Bex. We will be back to see you soon. Oh...., and the wines were great!!!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 5, 2024
- Go4758811 contributionWhat a fun, memorable day! From the second we entered this exquisite winery, we were welcomed with warm greetings, and the hospitality continued throughout our wine tasting experience. Our host John L was very friendly and knowledgeable who had us smiling the whole time . Thanks for the stories and the chuckles John. My girlfriend and I are still talking about our best winery experience so far. Thanks to all the staff for your hospitality. Darlene:)Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten April 10, 2024

As novice wine drinkers, he really made us feel comfortable and helped us understand the undertones as well as the process of making the different wines. - Ohio Travelers2 contributionsWine tour to remember! We took the 3pm tour on a Sunday. My husband did the tasting with the tour $35 and I just did the tour for $15. It was worth the money- we learned about how they make the wines and toured the facility outside and underground. We both learned alot about wine. They gave us each sparkling wine to start the tour and we drank it while on our tour. At the end of the tour, my husband did the tasting of 4 different wines- 2 whites, 1 red and 1 ice wine. He enjoyed them all very much. Debra was an excellent tour guide and answered all of our questions about each wine and wine in general. She even accompanied us to the gift shop afterwards and helped us pick out our wines. She was kind enough to provide us with an additional sample for us to try before purchasing. Highly recommend coming here!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 29, 2024

Went twice with friends. The welcoming people are very friendly and caring and always available when you need assistance.
Unis, Tanya and Ewa are always smiling and knowledgeable about the history and wine from Chateau des Charmes.
A great varietal of wine that can be paired with either chocolate, cheeses or charcuterie at a reasonable price.
Great view of the vineyard with cabanas for small group tasting.
The glass tables inside are a bit small if you are more than 2 people and you have more than 8 glasses and the tasting board(s) on it.
This is one of the best wineries of the region with great persona, service and fantastic wines. 4+ out of 5 stars

I had a lovely time at the Chateau this evening with my friends, and my experience was enhanced by our server Joseph, who made sure that our wine tasting was all-encompassing and a pleasant time from start to finish. His expert narration of the various wines on offer here really made me want to dive even deeper into wines and their aromas. The location is beautiful with luscious greenery, and I would recommend this experience to anyone interested in a tasting here.

We had an amazing afternoon with Logan our tour guide. He took us around the grounds explaining the vineyard and then he took us down to the barrel room and showed us the aging process, all of this with a delicious glass of rose! We then were sat at our cabana and tried a variety of wines before settling on a bottle Sauvignon Blac. We were served cheese puffs, a charcuterie board, and donuts with our ice wine! 10 out of 10 would highly recommend getting a group together and getting the cabana! It was worth every penny and Logan was amazing!

This was the 2nd of the wineries we visited this day for wine tasting sampling. Our experience was outstanding.
1) The tasting flight was significantly better than the previous in terms of cost, wine selection, and outdoor under the large pavilion next to the vineyard.
2) Our hostess (Anwyn [called "Fluffy by her colleagues :-) ] ) was genuinely friendly, attentive, and engaging, and really made a difference to our experience. We were provided with palate cleansing bread and pretzels, something not provided at the previous, much more expensive (and grand) vineyard.
3) The wines were delicious AND affordable. One of the $16 CAD chards was easily as good as the $60 CAD chard we sampled earlier that day. We purchased a few for gifts and to bring home.
4) The philosophy of this vintner is that good wine does not need to be expensive, and they're right!
5) Chateau Des Charmes is a small drive from Old Town, but interily worth the drive.
Anwyn - Thank you!!! We will be back!

Excellent place, strongly recommend. After visiting 20+ wineries in the Niagara Peninsula region, Château des Charmes proved to be a notch above the best ones I visited before. Especially in the area of overall experience and attention to guests. Redressing absence of snobbery. I recommend you to taste their sparkling wine selection (they use laborious method traditionelle) and see tiny bubbles in your glass - no carbonation!

We were charmed by the place. A soothing atmosphere with very good wines and the most welcoming staff, especially Baptiste who explained the wines to us very well, the details of the estates also very well served in French. We greatly enjoyed our time and this experience will be repeated on a future trip.

A group of nine longtime friends enjoyed a wine tasting in the tent at Chateau des Charmes yesterday. We were entertained and served by Evan Kimpton who knew his stuff for those in the group who study wines and was witty for those who just came for the fun. He was knowledgeable and shared history of the vines and the property. The two hour tasting was well organized and offered terrific selections. I highly recommend the venue and welcoming hospitality.

We booked a guided tour in French at midday for 5 people (including a 10 year old child).
We were lucky enough to be welcomed by Maria, our trilingual guide.
What an extraordinary woman! Smiling, joking, very precise in her explanations and interacts very well with her group.
Each vineyard has its history and this one is no exception! Beautiful!
Thank you Maria and continue to share your passion with us! 10/10.

As my first experience with wine tasting, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and knowledgeable Joseph was. He took the time to slowly guide us through the entire tasting menu, offering expert opinions on what wines we should have the opportunity to taste while we were here. He has made me a repeat customer and I will bring more family and friends here when I get the chance. Thank you Joseph and the entire Château Des Charmes team!

Thank you ,

Good morning KJ,
Thank you for your inquiry. You are welcome to visit the winery at you leisure, from 10 am until 6:00 pm. Having said that, our tasting bar does close at 5:30 pm.
We host public tours daily at 11:15 am in Japanese, 12 pm in French and 1 pm and 3 pm in English. Reservations are not required for these tours and they last approximately one hour.
If you wish to have a private winery experience, please contact me via e-mail - the address is on the contact page of our website - and we can discuss your options.
We look forward to welcoming you to Chateau des Charmes!

Hello Alex,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there are no public transit lines that run directly to the winery. To closest option would be to take a bus to Niagara College (the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus) but it would still be quite a walk from there (approximately an hour).
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,

Hello!
I am visiting your winery again this summer and was wondering if wines are available by the glass to purchase. I enjoyed a tasting on the patio a few months ago and would love to have a glass of sparkling out there this summer!
Written July 11, 2017
Hi Amanda,
Yes, we do have wines by the glass available. The outdoor area may be limited if we are setting up for an event so you r best bet would be earlier in the day.
We look forward to welcoming you back!

Hi, I was wondering if people under 19 can come and do the visit, taste the wines at the end of tour? I 'll be with my whole family and want to do this tour in December !
Written November 18, 2016
Hello and thank you for your question. Unfortunately, Ontario law prevents us from serving wine to any guest under 19 years old. You are welcome to join the tour with your family and you will be served grape juice instead of wine.
