I found these gardens mentioned on TripAdvisor and decided to check them out one afternoon when we had some time to kill, during our ten day visit to Oakville.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but found a pretty location on the water complete with cherry blossoms, tulips, fountains and walking paths. Other plants had yet to bloom, as it was still early in the season.
Several were out for a stroll, or even doing laps around the path. It’s a very serene place to visit. There was a unique art gallery on site as well.

The renovated Gairloch Gardens is perfect for a stroll or walking the dog at any time of the year but the summer, when the blooms are out is when it really becomes something special.
Lay the blanket and the cushions on the grass amongst the blooms, possibly on the rise overlooking the ponds and the lake. Open the wicker basket and enjoy some cucumber sandwiches, dessert and perhaps a fine tea whilst people watching and the family play.
Be transported back in time to the Edwardian era for a moment and imagine..

The gardens are small, but a quaint park. Nestled right up to lake Ontario, you get great views. The flowers in the garden are wonderful right now. Parking was a bit tricky since the lot is small.

Absolutely a beautiful place to visit or work within. As a Toronto Wedding Photographer I routinely take my Couples here to shoot their Wedding Engagement images.

Enjoyed my walk through the gardens and down to the lake .
I was lucky it was a bright sunny morning . I found it peaceful , it’s been a few years since I was last there and it remains basically unchanged .

We went there on Saturday evening as a family. What a beautiful garden. They have Rose Garden too. They maintain the garden very well. There is a lake beside the garden. There is a small pond too. The problem is parking. It's limited parking. Also there is no washroom.

This was supposed to be our last stop during Doors Open Oakville back in Sep 2018 until I did an online search and read about the localized flooding--lake level was high and some areas were fenced off. We would rather see Gairloch Gardens at its best so, after a quick discussion right there at the parking lot, we decided to leave and reschedule our visit.

Fast forward to Aug 2020, I had a weekend free when I suddenly remembered we never did go back to Gairloch Gardens. Is it open to the public during this COVID-19 pandemic? The actual website was no help but other Oakville websites confirmed that the park was open. Oakville Galleries however was still closed which meant no available washroom facilities.

Anyone looking for photo-worthy spots will not be disappointed in Gairloch Gardens. My favourite is the arched wooden bridge over the stream. It is very picturesque, from the assortment of colourful flowers here and there, the expansive manicured lawn and the big house (Oakville Galleries) on a slope, to the trellis fence panels surrounding the rose garden on the other side. We were not expecting to see frogs in the north pond. Never heard green frogs before so did not immediately realize they were the ones making those strange sounds.

We were here at past-8AM, early enough to easily find an empty parking space, have the gardens all to ourselves and take photos to our hearts' content. There were a few people who arrived before or after us, some even on bikes, and we had no problem keeping our physical distance from them. We walked towards the seawall then followed the concrete pathway up to the closed off stone steps to the house. We even sat at one of the benches facing Lake Ontario. We explored the rose garden before we headed back to the parking lot.

Gairloch Gardens is a beautiful lakeside park. This is one of those places you would be okay going out of your way to bring visiting family or friends. We look forward to doing that in the (pandemic-free) future.
