I love this area of town - reminds me a bit of an edgier Toronto neighbourhood, with lots of ethnic restaurants and eclectic stores. My personal favourite spots: Stoney's Bread Company and Forster Park. The other reviews mention that it is a "disadvantaged area", but let's get real - this is Oakville, hardly a rough area - our crime rate is ridiculously low. The neighbourhood is a refreshing change from the overly-yuppified Downtown Oakville.

The strip of Kerr Street from the Lakeshore to just south of Speers Road is a great place to wonder for an afternoon and find some local shops and restaurants that are truly locally owned and operated. A number of merchants who have been driven out by the ridiculous rents and lack of parking on the Lakshore in downtown Oakville have relocated here. Maro's, Gingerman (closed for renovations at this time) and Kerr Street Cafe are fabulous! Gear Music is one of the best guitar and music gear shops in the GTA, and there are some lovely small parks to sit and people-watch and enjoy your coffee. In the evening, check out the Moonshine Cafe for the best live music in Oakville.

Kerr Village is a charming collection of shops offering a wide range of interesting dining options, specialty shops, and convenient services (at least 7 barber shops and hair salons) on a good street to park and walk to reach any of these great choices. Stoney's, The Mermaid and Oyster, Gingerman's Social Eatery, Boffo's, Kerr Street Cafe, The Sweetest Thing, and many more great food options offer lots of choices. Cheese, balsamic vinegar, and coffee shops add to the wide range of options It is easy to park and walk to any part of Kerr Village and it's well worth a visit.

To call this street an attraction is laughable. Most places have closed down to high rent and what’s left is struggling. There’s some good restaurants but nothing special and the area is full of decaying buildings, stores that close early and zero nightlife. Lots of mentally ill and drug addicts that harass people and make running a business even more difficult as they wander into establishments and annoy customers. Terrible drivers make this street a nightmare to walk along and Kerr and Speers is something special as entitled, speeding drivers ignore safety and will mow pedestrians down despite the stop lights. Lots of car collisions because everyone is in a hurry or playing on their phones. Lots of drunk drivers around the various dive bars in the area and walking alone at night as a woman can be scary because you will get accosted by drunk perverts. Lots of car break ins and bicycle thefts so keep an eye on your property.

Kerr Street is becoming more and more interesting. Beginning to rival Lakeshore Road for interesting restaurants and shops. Visiting Oakville, you must take time to walk up Kerr Street.

For many years, and our first experience of Kerr Street was back in the late sixties / seventies, you would hardly describe the area as charming. But lots has changed since then. It is now a delightful area through which to stroll, enjoy a coffee or lunch on a patio and meet the many individuals who own and run their own retail and service businesses.

No, it's not Yorkville or Bloor but it has a natural and friendly vibe we found to be most welcoming.

Kerr Street has improved and flourished over the past few years. There is an abundance of new restaurants offering a variety of interesting food and each is excellent in their own way. There are also unique Kerr Street stores which sell high class delicatessen, cheese, olive oil, antiques, books, fish - to name a few. It is a pleasure to stroll down the street and enjoy the international ambiance offered by the small shops. Not forgetting the magnificent planters and hanging baskets which seem to be everlasting during the summer - perhaps we need new banners (please). Westwood Park has been a wonderful addition and has come alive this year with the hugely successful Kerr Street annual concert, the rock fountains which are a great hit with the small kids and, this year, the tinkling piano which was a lot of fun. Leonard Cohen in the park - what more can you ask for?.

This will always be Kerr Street in my opinion. A few good eateries surrounded by thrift shops, dollar stores and other assorted dumps. Not worth the trip for shopping but there are some nice restaurants in the area. Certainly not the best area in Oakville.

There always seems to be parking spots on the street which should tell you something.

We moved into Kerr Village in the summer, and have really come to appreciate what a wonderful place it is to live, eat and shop. There are a number of places along Kerr Street - great restaurants, as well as specialty shops - like fish and the new artisan cheese and oil, tea shops, cookie shops as well as the great little parks etc. The lights on the street are beautiful at night. It is perfect place to stroll whatever time. People are always friendly as that is an Oakville standard to say hello or good day. If you haven't been in a while, it is definitely worth trying again.

Revitalization does not seem to be working. Very tired area. A cohesive plan is needed. Area still seems quite rundown.
