Owned by the City of Oshawa, and managed by Spectra Venue Management, the General Motors Centre opened in 2006 with a project cost of $45 million. As Durham Region’s premier Sports and Entertainment Facility, the General Motors Centre provides a first-class home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League, the Durham TurfDogs of the Canadian Lacrosse League and the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. The venue also boasts an in-house restaurant, Prospects Bar & Grill, which is open typically 2 hours prior to live and sporting events as well as throughout the week for the Durham Central Adult Hockey League (DCAHL).

Since opening, the General Motors Centre has hosted major concerts and special events including Elton John, Cirque du Soleil, 2011 BDO Canadian Open, IIHF World Junior Pre-Competition, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Hedley, Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships, Selena Gomez and The Wiggles; just to name a few!

Great Place

We have seen a number of concerts here. We had a blast. It was freezing when we seen Dean Brody in May. Parking is $20 which I think is a bit expensive. But great over all.

Come an enjoy a sport or an event at the TTC. You'll love the casual atmosphere and the great food. It's a 6,000 seat venue that doesn't have a bad seat in the house.

The Tribute Centre, Formerly GM Centre, is a perfect size not only for the Oshawa Generals hockey team but for concerts. I have seen Tim Hicks and Dierks Bentley perform there recently and at the end of the month I'll be in my seat enjoying Dean Brody's concert. I would have given the venue full marks if it wasn't for... More

saw Tom Cochrane perform here - well done. Much less expensive than other venues - we were up front and got right up to the stage - no issues. A very down home country feel....perfect for Tom. The centre is easy to find

Staff is friendly and helpful. Arena is modern and seating provided good viewing from all angles. Sound is great. Lighting is great. Between period shows entertaining. Take in a game of our favorite sport in Canada. Bring the kids.

Not as bad seat in the house. Concessions and washrooms close at hand. Lots of on street parking available.

How can it be that people in Oshawa can pay money to attend a concert and then spend the entire time getting in and out of their seats to go get beer, or go to the bathroom AGAIN, or talk and talk when Blue Rodeo are on stage performing? What a group of rude and inconsiderate concert goers. Never again... More

Thanks for your feedback Ontheroadagain416. Blue Rodeo crowds are a unique bunch in the sense that for every show we receive this same feedback. Their concerts always seem to have the vibe of a kitchen party where fans have conversations with one another while the show is on. We've definitely noticed this each year and it's the biggest complaint we... More

Weather you're coming to see the Oshawa Generals, a concert or any other event this is a great place to see it. Great size for a junior hockey game and large enough to attract big acts that still has an intimate feel. We usually park a few blocks away and walk so not to have to pay for parking.

Good viewing all across the arena, easy to access. Maybe missing a bit of seating area for lunch / dinner, I would have preferred to stay in the arena but had no place to eat (except fast food)
