I went to the Automotive Museum with a ground of friends. The tour was suppose to be an hour long but with our questions and the knowledge of the tour guide we were at the museum for 2 hours. We saw and read about many cars but there are so many more in the collection that we did not see even half of the cars. The tour guide told us about Sam McLaughlin and the history of GM. It was very interesting. He presented it as a story not a history lesson. There were places for us older folk to sit and enjoy the magnificent cars. Many I group said they were going back at a later date.

I am Alicia from Barbados. I went on the tour where you walk around the area of the town and was told about the history and then followed I went and saw all types of cars. I had the most educational Historical time you could ever dream of receiving from a car museum. I enjoyed every moment of it. I be honest I am lightening macqueen fan and that caught my attention fast and I love different cultures and History. I was solded.
I want to say if your looking for a place to donate financially or even give of your time, look no further. Please note its non profit organisation and all donations help to keep the history alive. Let's help with the building funds for the future so they can have all they cars in one location. Donate today please. Even a visit and your small entry fee is a valued token. Culture and history something valuable that we have to preserve in all walks of life.

I was expecting to see all the rare Canadian cars that I have grown up knowing have been built here in Canada; I didn't see them at this museum. However, I saw automobiles made in cities in Canada which I never knew contributed to this industry! Wow!
Also there are some exquisite vehicles (cars and trucks) that are literally phenomenal examples, and some historically important.
Some examples brought back memories of cars my mother or father drove when I was a young child 50 years ago, others reminded me of how far we have come in safety performance (I broke my nose on a steel dashboard in a 1964 car during a head-on accident).
The building is very old, but the washrooms are well lit and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you so much for your review! We're so glad our collection was able to surprise you and subvert your expectations.
Our building is an artifact in and of itself, and we're always working to update it. So happy you had a great time.

We booked on line for a Saturday. We parked in front. It was $15.00 plus HST for adults, seniors is $13.00 plus HST, youths 6-17 is $7 plus HST and kids 5 and under is free. The worker there was very friendly. I didn’t have to show my tickets on the phone. She just typed in my name on the computer. The building has 2 floors of cars and everything is crammed. Some cars are behind other cars and you couldn’t see them. There was lots of information on the cars. It took us about 45 minutes to go through the building but if you don’t stop and read the information and take pictures than you can do it in 30 minutes or less. They had a lot of cars from the early 1900’s. I wish they had more variety.

Thank you for visiting! We're glad you had a good time. Our collection spans 120 years of automotive history and includes gasoline, steam, electric and hybrid cars, but we have long since outgrown our building, which is itself an historical artifact. We're working on expanding to better display the pieces we have.

I feel so fortunate to have visited. This car museum is stacked! Any other museum would be happy to have 1/10th of what these guys do. My jaw kept dropping to the floor. Hidden gem is an understatement. Take your woman or man or boy or girl - they will thank you.

I have enjoyed the history section and the collection of historical cars the most. Not to spoil anything, but if you are not aware that Canada used to have our own car brands and Canadians had invented EVs more than a century ago, the Automotive Museum is a must-visit! Amanda from the front desk is the sweetest museum worker I have meet :)

The building housing all these great cars is very old and needs renovation. While I learned a lot by reading the write up, it would have been better if the exhibit was better organized and more accessible, as the aisles were tight and you had to climb stairs to see the second floor displays. The picture shown, the walls did not look like that, as the the paint was peeling and had poor ventilation .

Thank you for your review. We are currently in the process of a variety of capital projects to renew our exhibit space, and are attempting to make the most of what we have. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, adding in more accessible access would require total demolition of the space, something which we're obviously not keen on doing- hence why we provide free admission for mobility-impaired visitors in apology.
If you did notice any areas of peeling paint, poor ventilation or damp, please contact us immediately at office@canadianautomotivemuseum.com and let us know exactly where and when; we take the integrity of our building very seriously; while it does have an uneven appearance due to repeated modification and renovation over the years, we've worked tirelessly to ensure that it abides by current museum standards, for the safety of our vehicles, our staff and our visitors.

The walking tour of Oshawa's carriage and automotive history was fascinating, very informative. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. The museum is unique with a wonderful array of cars and trucks. Truly worth a visit. I was pleased to renew my membership.

Marvellous collection of vintage cars and carriages from the 1800s in the 1900s. Greg would be happy to tell you some back stories about the cars which are very interesting and True. Brilliant experience even if you are not into cars. Plight and friendly staff me to visit a pleasure.
