Canada's national natural history museum offers world-class galleries in a handsome heritage "castle". Marvel at dinosaurs and other ancient reptiles in the Fossil Gallery. See grizzlies and other wild animals up close in beautiful dioramas in the Mammal Gallery. Observe hundreds of specimens in the Bird Gallery. See a real blue whale skeleton in the Water Gallery. Be dazzled by over a thousand gorgeous minerals and rocks in the Earth Gallery. Peer at an eye-popping assortment of creepy crawlies in Nature Live. Enjoy an action-packed 3D movie. Take advantage of numerous hands-on activities. Don't miss the special, travelling exhibitions. A superb destination for visitors of all ages!

Housed in a very attractive historical stone building, this museum is worth the price of admission. Very clean exhibits, very realistically-preserved specimens all arranged in appropriate scenes. There were very many interactive stations and all I could think about was how kids would really enjoy this museum, even the adult kids! Several times, the word "wow!" came out of my... More

Nature Museum has Ottawa's very first public virtual reality display. It's only on three days of the week: Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at certain hours. The VR experience is 10 minutes long at an extra $6 charge on top of the museum admission fee. Samsung Gear VR headset is very comfortable. The best thing is you can sit quietly and... More

Went with my 13 year old daughter. Loved the free coat check, it made our visit very comfortable. It was clean. Easily navigated. Lots of interactive displays. Wonderful place

A smaller, very manageable museum in a building with a typically, illustrious Canadian past. The kind of museum one can go time and again to marvel at the natural world.

The Canadian Museum of Nature is probably one of the top family friendly museum in Ottawa at this time (with the Museum of Science and Technology currently closed for renovation and the Museum of Agriculture a little out of the way). Definitely a great rainy day activity with a lots of things to see and do - including some interactive... More

I have been to Nature museums across the world and this one is definitely well ranked. The displays are all well marked and easily accessible. The exhibits are in most cases very well stocked with fascinating specimens and stories. So easy to get to if you are staying downtown Ottawa it would be a shame to miss it.

I hadn't been to this museum since I was a child, and so really had no idea what to expect. I recently moved to Ottawa, and so we were not in a rush to push through it all, and am I ever glad... as after 3 hours we had only seen one third of the exhibits (we were very thorough)... More

This was my first visit here and it was phenomenal. It's a beautiful museum with mesmerizing exhibits. I stayed interested the entire time, the dinosaur exhibit was hands down my favourite. I would love to return for the special exhibition in June!

The Canadian Museum of Nature is huge with so much to see. If we lived in the area I would purchase an annual family pass, this place is that good. This museum is like going to a science centre/history museum. Great for couples, singles and families.

What do you do on a wet day in Ottawa!! Visit the Canadian Museum of Nature of course. Not on the same scale as the Natural History Museum in London but still well worth a visit if you're interested in the natural world. My wife and I spent a good part of the day here and found it good value... More
