The Museum engages visitors with the wonder of flight through its spectacular collection, educational programming, activities, and special events. The Museum focuses on aviation in Canada, but within an international context, from its beginnings in 1909 to the present day. As Canada’s contribution to aviation expanded to include aerospace technology, the Museum’s collection and mandate grew to include space flight. The Collection itself consists of more than 130 aircraft and artifacts (propellers, engines) from both civil and military service. It gives particular, but not exclusive, reference to Canadian achievements. The most extensive aviation collection in Canada, it is also considered one of the finest in the world.Care and development of this collection remains one of the Museum’s main purposes. The Museum practises conservation and restoration techniques to keep the collection in a condition equal to the highest standards.

If you like aircraft…

This is a massive building with a pretty complete story of Canada's contribution to aircraft. Too far to walk from the city, but doable by bike or bus, or if you are driving.

Take Sussex Drive and the Parkway to get there-the beautiful drive sets you up for a great visit. We loved everything... from the mock-up of the first plane made in Canada to the first "human powered" plane. The aircraft are arranged in an enormous hall, giving the museum a very expansive feel. Definitely worth the visit

Amazing day spent looking at both historic and present day airplanes. So many to see! Husband and son took a ride in a biplane, which they said was great. Watched parachute team land just yards away. Small snackbar for coffee etc. Also enjoyed the Star Trek display and had fun with their interactive games (and I'm not a Star Trek... More

My favorite part was the section on life on the international space station, very interesting. The balance of the museum was well done lots of aircraft on display and information available. I thought the Biplane ride would be great but I could not convince my wife to give it a try, it does cost extra 65 pp for a short... More

The admission + parking is a good expense. Your kids may like it if they are young and get to do the astronaut suit experience. Other than that, it is quite small and you cannot kill the whole day. Helicopter rides and biplane rides are fun, but a little on the expensive side.

This museum has a wide range of displays and interactive stations. You can even take a ride on a bi-plane or helicopter if you want to spend extra money. There is also a great display on space travel and the international space station.
