We have visited Vin Villa this Thanksgiving weekend . But in the beginning , when i was just login to book a tour , pretty close to our dates of visit , they were all sold .

When I communicated my concern to the administrator at Island adventure Tours , they were kindly informed us that they have added additional tour, so I was alerted and booked us immediately.

The island is small and the weather is not quite suit for the beach and swimming , so this is one of not many places to see there.
We arrived about 15 minutes before the tour and had hard time to locate the tour meeting point . The address number 56 was not displayed . the gates were locked , the signs everywhere said "Do not Trespass". We were lost , we were browsing in all the nearby directions . we tried to call , but the number on their site has auto message that "It is not assigned " !!! Finally exactly at time of our tour , the guide met us at the gates , which she unlocked .
The tour was alright , the history behind that estate was interesting , the dining hall looks exactly as you can see on their photos. The wine tasting - was a joke. Just one kind of white wine.
We were really up to for more tastings due to the weather and asked for 2nd sample. The lady allow me to take one for me , one for my daughter, but the other long lady from our party got a hard decline . That was a bitter pill, considering that our tour was the very last in this season, there was open bottle of white standing on the table , we were frozen and one person from our party was not able to attend the event . So we were charged anyway as they took a prepay .
All in all we decided that the tour is very overrated and overpriced . But big thanks to Pelee Wine pavilion , they were so welcoming and accommodating , that after few tasting we almost forgot this misadventure .
So. are is my advise : see the pictures of the dining room of the Vin Villa and you can pass the tour . Go straight to the Pelee Wine pavilion !

Clayton was the best tour guide! He is knowledgeable on the restoration and the history of what took place way back when! He puts his own personal twist on the tour! Very unique place to visit while on Pelee Island!

Founded in 1866 on Pelee Island, the southernmost point of Canada, Vin Villa is one of the most historically significant viticultural sites in North American
Did you know that Vin Villa was:
* Canada's First Commercial Winery?
* The Birthplace of Champagne in North America?
* The First Wine From North America to Win World-Wide Recognition???
So glad I took this tour. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Vin Villa which made the experience all the more enriching.
A must see when visiting the island!

We visited the Vin Villa in the late 1990’s. It was overgrown and not much to see. The Vin Villa foundation has done a fabulous job bringing the grounds up to their current glory. A must see tour when on Pelee Island.

The tour guide Clayton was the best. Very friendly, super knowledgeable, and passionate about this place because he has been hands on with the foundation that is caring for these ruins. The ruins and the interior dining area with the wine tasting was a memorable experience. Not to be missed.

The renovations in the cellar are just amazing. So glad to see the property was not turned into condo's. Keep the history alive for all to enjoy
