We had such a lovely time at this museum. The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald display, the birch bark replica of a home from the local First Nation, a military display and so much more! I have been fortunate enough to travel to other museums in the world. I couldn’t believe how clean this one was! Cute gift shop also with rocks from the area.

A good history stop here folks, the price is low, and the building brings back memories of days gone by, the artefacts are plentiful, great family spot to visit...

For those that like trains & beautiful scenery this is an excellent trip. The train departs at 0800 and returns at 5:30 PM. The fall colors were about at it's brightest. The rugged Canadian Shield on which the Agawa Canyon sits was formed 2.5 billion years ago some of the oldest rock on earth. As the train slowly winds it's way through the rugged rock formations, lakes, rivers, creeks and forests a GPS triggered commentary gives history and up coming points of interest. The commentary is available in English, French, German, Japanese & Mandarin. Make sure you bring your camera. At mile 102 the train starts it's decent from the top of the canyon & 12 miles later and over 500ft lower ends at the Agawa Canyon Park at mile 114. Here we have1.5 hours to explore the park which has three water falls, Bridal Falls and North & South Black Beaver Falls walking trails or just relax and enjoy the view which is breath taking. For those that are adventurous & energetic there is a look out platform which is 250 ft & 300 steps above the Canyon which gives you an excellent panoramic view. There is a full service dining car that serves breakfast & lunch or you can buy a box lunch on board or bring your own cooler with drinks and food. The train cars are all modern, clean with big windows to give you excellent opportunities for photography.

I did enjoy the old photos and the hockey history. But there isn't very much to see at this attraction. If you come from the US, be prepared to pay by credit card or Canadian currency, because UD dollars will be accepted only at par.

Happy that you enjoyed our sports memorabilia, as we are indeed a hockey town! Our feature exhibit changes periodically, new sights and items being added frequently. If you are ever back in the Sault, come back to see if anything new catches your eye!

A small but nice museum. I especially enjoyed the native exhibit. We couldn't get up to see the clocktower. Well worth the money and time.

We toured this museum in about 90 minutes but could have spent more time reading and inspecting all the exhibits.
Exhibits of interest to us were primarily on the 2nd and 3rd floor. There's a 1948 snowmobile, astonishing maps of Great Lakes shipwrecks (so many!), a lot on Sault Ste. Marie history and a section dedicated to local War Veterans. There are collections of various collectibles ranging from comics to cameras.
The building itself has a venerable, grand feeling to it. It has a prominent clocktower, the interior has polished wood floors, stairs and banisters. The place feels like it is truly steeped in history. It may feel 'old' to some, but it's very clean and appears to be well-maintained. It's certainly deserving of support if you visit Sault Ste. Marie.

Lovely old building that was once the main post office. The museum shows the changes from the earliest times pre European times to the modern day. Well researched and all aspects of life covered. A superb glimps of past ages and achievements, as well as how people lived and survived.
