We enjoyed relaxing on the boardwalk during our stay in Sault Ste. Marie. We chatted with some of the other walkers and learned about other attractions in the area.

The boardwalk is full of nice art pieces and connects the Historic canal site to the Art Gallery of Algoma. There are great lookout spots and I even saw a weasel early in the day.

Worth a jog or an evening stroll. A meandering path much like a boardwalk that takes you around the water front.

Our hotel was on the boardwalk and it was a very pleasant place to walk and enjoy the day. Very pretty at night too.

Loved walking along the river to get to restaurants and shops in the area. It’s especially beautiful at night with all the lights across the River.

Nice little walk by the water with some local food options and frequent live music in the area. Watch out for Goose poop but otherwise good

We enjoyed several walks and even rented bikes on the boardwalk. Restaurants, band shell and even a "Beaver tail" outlet for those in need of a treat

Beautiful despite the cold. A safe place to have an afternoon stroll to avoid cabin fever! Can't wait for the warmer weather so I can spend more time here.

where is a good place to park? is it paid parking? depending on where one starts, can you easily make it to the locks viewing area? thanks!

Yes the Station Mall backs onto the boardwalk. Enjoy.

Where are the hot spots for photography in Sault Ste Marie? I'm travelling in the city for three nights including the Agawa Canyon tour. I don't want to miss out any beautiful scenery.

I would agree with Gerry P. Also standing on the walkway directly over the old hydroelectric plant at the historic locks is mesmerizing (and looking down into the massive power of the water is sort of scary but beautiful). The old buildings at the historic locks may be of interest. I don't think there are many "scenic vistas" - and I was only around the locks area - so that is all I can speak to.

Do we need passports?

Passport or passport card (North America and Carribbean land entry only). The last time we crossed the Canadian border, you could still just show a driver's license and birth certificate. It was quicker and easier under the new rules as there was less traffic backed up. Canadian side asked purpose and length of visit, US asked our citizenshio (duh) and where we were going (home, again duh) .but it was a painless process compared to crossing the Mexican border at Tijuana on a weekend.
