There are several mines in the area. This seems like the best value for picking. As of this writing it was $20 for a 2 gallon pail. There are lots of piles of rocks you dig through. They are leftovers or tailings from the mine....More

They are open now from 10 am to 5pm. If you do a Google search you will find there site. Hope you have a great time in Canada.

You should find them open, I have visited in Jan, March, Aug and September. Take care on the roads as during the heavy snowfall period the logging trucks create deep ruts which don't correspond with car or light truck... More

You'll have to call and ask. They told us they close at the first snow, and that comes pretty early to Canada by American standards.
