Very different activity for the family. You grab a crowbar and some gloves and you start digging for Amethyst in a rock field. You wash them off after and you can pay to bring them home.

We collected some stones with amethyst on them, a nice experience, picked our own rocks and paid for what we had in our pail, not too expensive.

You either need a passport or an enhanced drivers license. I had a passport and my sister had the enhanced id. By the way, if you want to get your passport stamped at the border, you need to request that at the border.

There is not a per person charge at this mine. You pay $25 per bucket of amethyst out of the mine and $35 per bucket if you are allowed to go down into the mine.
