I have been to Old Fort William before and it is well worth a visit any time. On October 27th though, they held a Haunted Fort Night in connection with Halloween. It was very well done, the special effects were very good and the "actors"...More

We spent a morning at Fort William on the last opening day of the season. Many of the buildings were unfortunately closed, but that didn't mean it wasn't worth the trip. We enjoyed the short 8 minute walk through the forest to the fort, which...More

Takes more than a half day to see, over 40 historic buildings on a lovely site. Great historical people to talk about, and it was the major transhipment point for the Northwest Company fur trade. Well worth the visit, but you will need the better...More

We took a run up to Thunder Bay with the intention of visiting the Fort William location and to see the sites. Fort William is probably one of the best (non-military) fort recreations I have seen for the size and there were a lot of...More

Excellent re-constructed Fort William. Guides are dressed in historical garb and are very much in character. For the full effect, would recommend visiting during the summer months. Most of the guides are college students and they are back in school in the fall / winter...More

Walk through the various buildings and learn and glimpse the history of the area. Guides and speakers talk to you as if they were actually in the days of the voyageurs. Some aspects have hands on experience available. A person can see what life was...More

The grounds are huge. Allow at least 3 hours to see it all. The guides bring the history to live and are outstanding. It is an interactive exhibit, and a very big piece of Canadian history - delivered in a fun and interesting way. Highly...More

At least 2 to 3 hours. Take your time, enjoy the farm and aboriginal encampment. Many buildings and stories to be told by the actors.
