About
When playing the Spruce Needles Golf Club in Timmins, it is sometimes easy to forget that this gorgeous Northern Ontario golf course lies well within the city limits. So dense is the forest around many of the holes that the golfers are afforded complete privacy, not only from the sites and sounds of the city, but from their golfers as well. The course itself features a championship length challenge in the traditional style. All greens are well protected by bunkers and water is in play about half of the holes. Despite the presence of so many trees, golfers are aided by Spruce Needles' generous landing areas and its large accommodating greens. The superb condition of the fairways and greens testify to maintenance program that is second to none. This hidden gem is enjoyed by golfers of all levels, simply for its beautiful condition and picturesque scenery.A beautiful 18 hole golf course, complete with full practice facility and a complete fine dining experience makes the Spruce Needles Club, northern Ontario's greatest golf experience.

Very disappointed

Very disappointing was held up by a foursome from the 3 hole through 18. There definitely needs to be a marshal on the course.

Enjoyable 18-hole course for bogey golfer
Jul. 2015 • Friends
At Spruce Needles the annual senior men's event is scheduled for mid-June… a couple of weeks before my wife and I arrive for our annual two months in Northeastern Ontario. This year the June event was rained out and rescheduled till July which gave me an opportunity to participate for the first time. The greens are respectably fast and subtle enough to challenge most bogey golfers. The fairways were in good shape… comparable to many Ontario golf courses much further south. The bunkers were deep enough with sufficient sand to require true “blasts” out of the trap.

Club house facilities are very good. Practice facilities include a good driving range and the speed of the practice putting greens proved to be true to what I experienced on the course. Most of the holes are fairly straightforward… relatively flat. No “trick” holes. Very few sidehill/uphill/downhill lies. Nominal standard par 72… two par 5's and two par 3's on each nine. (And as noted in at least one prior review, the par 5s are all long enough to be “true” par 5s.) From the white tees, course length is a respectable 6260 yards, rating 68.9, slope 120.

The hosting members were friendly, made a point of telling me that the course is open to and wants non-members to enjoy the course. Staff was friendly. All-in-all, an enjoyable experience. From now on I will make a point of returning at least once a year, even if just by myself.

NOTE: From the blue tees (those days are long gone for me)… 6740 yards, rating 70.7, slope 124

Second best in Timmins

Second best in Timmins, long yardage course. Par 5's are really par 5's. No hitting the green in 2 shots on these ones unless you drive over 300 yards to start with. Well maintained course. Excellent staff, (cart girls, servers and bartenders)

Great place to let off some pokes, greens are well maintained, staff are great, members seem pretty welcoming. Great 18 hole course, not to tough but like any other always some challenging holes.

Seemed fine.
I've only golfed once in my life. But this place is average and nothing here is fancy or even remotely stylish. Grounds seem well kept, staff seemed nice. But I have nothing to compare it to...

Terrific course, Timmins closest to a "country club".
Does not share the gorgeous views of the Hollinger Golf Club, but more than makes up for it with a fantastic club house, staff and course.
