I had a tour with Dave on a chilly Friday morning of November 23rd. Even though I was 8 minutes late, it took just a phone call listed on my confirmation sheet to resolve my concern. Dave picked up and assured me he will wait. To say that the tour was great would not be enough. It was absolutely fantastic! I am pretty well-traveled person and normally book walking 2-3 hour tours in every big city I visit, so I am not impressed easily, as prefer to concentrate not on popular gossips, but rather on what the guide makes me think of. Having said that, Dave is the best example of how your not preferred subjects of discussion could be presented in such a way to make you completely forget, that you are not a sports fan, have not planned any theater performances for the trip, not a foodie and was not planning any Christmas shopping while visiting Toronto. Not only did he cover all the historic aspects as only the historian would have managed, but also made us a privy to the most juicy political maneuvering, as well as the most current problems Torontians go through to buy a house, etc.
Whereas in Europe one can easily get to historic center of the city and explore on his/her own or get a free guide, it's not the case in Canada. My appreciation of the city would not be of the same scale without Dave's insights into the history of creation of underground city connecting walkways to major offices located at the downtown skyscrapers, train station museum, baseball stadium and so many more places not to be missed. Dave's tour is a treat, a chance not to be missed, especially if you are a first time visitor of Toronto.
