Nice Latin dance club, with a live band. Most patrons appeared to really know how to dance and that becomes obvious quite rapidly. If you’re into Latin music this is the place to be. The club is not very large and it is all designed around the lowered dance floor and bar, surrounded by two raised seating / dining areas, with the stage upfront, and that’s it. Not much to it. Clearly designed for a purpose and filled with patrons that want and know how to dance. Nice music and nice crowd. The interesting thing is that none of the elements that make the club are that special on their own, however the combination of all of them is where the magic happens
I would recommend Lula Lounge and we will return.

I took my boyfriend out to Lula Lounge for his birthday on Fri. Dec. 21 and we had such a good time! We each got a 3-course dinner and everything was delicious. I had a fish plate as my main course & he had the steak. We both loved it (and believe me, my boyfriend is picky!) and the homemade desserts were amazing.
They had a reasonably large and decently priced drink menu, and even though we didn't order wine the list looked good.
They were quite busy, but our waitress was really on the ball and super friendly. She delivered our drinks and food reasonably quickly and was just a pleasure all night long.
This alone would make me want to go back, but I can't leave out what really made this whole excursion worthwhile - the live entertainment. There was a phenomenal 4-piece jazz band who played for about an hour during dinner (sorry, can't remember their name), followed by an entertaining and not too difficult beginner salsa dance lesson. Then the lights went down and a huge, probably 10 or 11 piece Cuban salsa band called Cafe Cubano got on stage and totally blew us away. We're not normally salsa enthusiasts but we were on the dancefloor for practically their whole set! The DJ that came on after switched it up a bit and ended our evening with some more typical top-40 dance tunes, which we're a bit more accustomed to.
While it wasn't dirt cheap, for the amount of great food and entertainment we got it was more than worth it. We paid $49 each (I think the steak dinner was a few dollars more) for two 3-course meals, 2 live shows, a DJ, a dance lesson and great memories! After drinks tax and tip I didn't even break $200. For a night out in Toronto - not bad at all!

The only reason we visited Toronto, driving from New Hampshire as part of our North America trip, was to visit Lula Lounge. If Lula had not existed, we'd have stayed in the USA – it really is that kind of unique place.
So, things didn't get off to a great start as they had no record of our reservation when we arrived – despite me having telephoned about 7 weeks in advance and gone over the booking twice with the woman taking the call. I had a feeling she was distracted...
Luckily for us, they had one table free, otherwise our night would have been ruined.
So, if travelling from far afield make sure you re-confirm your booking with them. Then confirm it again in writing.
Despite the poor start our memory is of a wonderful night – great food and service, great music, fun and relaxed dancing.
It's important not to view Lula as a restaurant. It's much more than that – a place where people interested in Latin music can go to enjoy the music, eat, drink and have a good time.
Food: The menu is small but carefully chosen. It was prepared to a very high standard indeed, with portions correctly judged to make 3 courses a pleasure. Lula clearly have a good chef behind the scenes.
Wine: Lula have a good wine list with a range to suit most tastes and budgets.
Cocktails: My cocktail was not great, and on my experience I'd say avoid unless you like to pay CAD8 for orange cordial with no alcohol (that's what it tasted like anyway). My wife's was better, so maybe I was just unlucky.
Service: Attentive without being intrusive. The pacing of the meal was right – it didn't at any point feel hurried, nor too slow.
Entertainment: This is where Lula really stands out. The evening starts with a Cuban woman who gets everyone up for a dance lesson. She has an attractive personality and really got people up and enjoying themselves. If it doesn't sound like fun all I can tell you is everyone there was clearly having a good time. On the evening of our visit, this was followed by a band called Salsotica. These guys were excellent.
Dancing: After 6 months of salsa dance lessons, my wife and I had decided Lula would be the first place we went dancing in a club environment. Lula have resisted the urge to cram in more and more dinner tables, and have a generous dance floor. It's hard to imagine a better environment to go out for your first 'proper' salsa dance.
Summary: A unique and excellent venue, so much more than a place to eat. I wish we had such a venue in Europe, one day we shall return.

We bought the dinner and show through Travelzoo, complete rip off, we paid over 200$ for the worst food i ever ate, we had grilled calamari and steaks, you could taste dirty grill bitterness on meat (smoke from burned fat), seafood and they grilled the pineapple also on that grill. Really terrible experience. I tell you one thing, stay away from this place and Travelzoo restaurant deals.

A fantastic destination for mostly Latin-inspired musical acts. Nice intimate stage, dance floor space.
Menu is quite small, and can often not offer great value, unfortunately. Poor draught selection, reasonable wine selection.
I wouldn't choose Lula as a dinner destination by any means, but as a music venue it excels.

Got together with friends for a Sunday Brunch it was an enjoyable time. The food was very good, and plentiful. The music was great and we enjoyed a little dancing. Overall a fun time. I recommend and will be back.

I was at Lula Lounge on November 2nd 2012, I was there for a dinner and show. I'd like to say that the line up went fairly quicky. I was warmly greeted and someone asked where my friend and I would like to sit and took us to our table and promptly signalled the server to come to get our drink order. The service was great, drinks arrived quickly and food came out pretty fast aswell. Nice lighting, washrooms were clean and the bar was nice. Good layout. Once again, the service was great! I'd definitely recommend Lula Lounge to anyone and i'll definitely be going back.

I through an bachelorette party at Lula Lounge last night, and it was amazing from beginning to end. The staff was knowledgable and accommodating, so our planning was really easy. Our waitress was fast and got our orders right. Our food was amazing! Mushroom caps, steak and chocolate cake! Mmmm! The Salsa dancing lesson was fun and easy to follow. It was challenging, but I still felt like I could keep up. It was really nice to see a mix of beginners and really great dancers together on the dance floor. Everyone was welcoming and we came home with one very happy Bride! Thanks Lula Lounge! Can't wait to come again!

Hi Bianca, it's pretty much a regular restaurant from 6:30 - 9:15, then the dance lesson start, and more people coming to dance start to arrive, by 10:15 when the live band starts it is like a night club, with dancers and a dj between sets. Kids are welcomed but the best idea is to come early enjoy the dinner and dance lesson part of the night.

Want to go on a thursday night with this girl I like, but it's not a date. Don't think i can go another day.. I just love to latin dance and want to show her that. I just want to dance with her and have a good time, no labels attached. Is this a good place for that?

Hi Jonah, sorry for the late reply, but yes it is a perfect place for that, but we don't have latin dancing on Thursdays, try a Friday or Saturday, we also have a complimentary beginner's dance class to help break the ice.
