On a road trip to Toronto, our group decided to take the ferry over to Center Island. We had researched it and with great reviews, decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed AT ALL by the beautiful nature whether the lush flower beds, natural trees, the water and wildlife. It was so enjoyable! We rented kayaks for... More

It is a really activity for the day. We took the ferry took Wards and walked to Hanlon's point. It was lovely. Lots of people having picnics. We stopped for a bit to eat at the little rectory on the water. I would recommend the Toronto island for a day's outing.

Lots to do at this island... picnic, beach, boat ride, kiddie amusement park, ride your bikes. Fantastic spot to spend half to full day in the big TO. Must eat "Corn on the cob" sold by the beach. and dont take the regular big boat... take the small speed boats... they are definitely more fun. Gets you there much quicker.

It has been years since being here. Once more decided to let the family experience a bit of my own childhood. It was a perfect day. Just hot enough to enjoy the water elements of centerville. The crowds were even tolerable. The haunted barrel works NEEDS repairs galore. But everything is pretty much as I remember it. Though it will... More

The fairy ride to the island is nice and relaxing. Can be busy with long waits though in the summer (the time when everyone wants to be on the island). Beaches there are nice to relax at. There are few quick eat options and a restaurant but best to picnic the day with backpacks. rent a bike when you are... More

I will not forget Toronto for Center Island comprising of 600 acres of Parkland!!! a sheer delight for Nature lover. I liked it better than even Hyde Park of London and Central Park of Manhattan. The lit up CN tower in the night from Westin hotel roof top restaurant is quite a view. so is the air strip in the... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
