The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Building is a beautiful, stately building at Bay Street and King Street West. The real beauty is hidden inside! The painted ceiling, with stunning chandeliers is truly magnificent! definitely worth a look if you are nearby.

I had a meeting and decided to take in this historic original CIBC, which has undergone slight names changes since its establishment! The ceiling are magnificent, and the vaulting is splendid! The blue azure is well preserved as is the embossed gold. The Chandeliers are huge and impressive in structure! Brass adorns every door in the building, and the entrance... More

Of course that’s not to say that the outside of this building is any less impressive than the inside. The exterior walls are embellished with beautiful motifs of people, animals, and plants. The main interior is filled with some truly stunning ceilings and chandeliers. I had to stop and just admire them for about five minutes before exploring the rest... More

This building is one of my favourites, the beautiful architecture from the outside to the inside is amazing if that is your thing. It’s my thing so I find it beautiful. Not much to do there but look around. But just the history of this building interests me, it being the tallest in the Commonwealth from December 1930 until 1962,... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
