Toronto's Riverdale Farm covers 7.5 scenic acres and is a hot spot for families. Along with the wooded areas, ponds and gardens, there are plenty of farm animals to visit. All this and more in the heart of downtown Toronto.

This small farm inside of downtown Toronto makes for a pretty nice visit, especially if combined with a walking tour of Carlton street by combining it with a visit to Allen Gardens.

Hidden gem within the urban jungle. Love this place. Although, I always come here during fall or winter where there are no crowds. It can get a little frustrating when visiting in the summer (I.e. Parking, annoying tourists, loud noises, etc.) Anyway, a must see. A great weekend stroll location.

This place is great for young children. The face it is hidden in Toronto is a bonus. Go early to avoid lineups and the crowds.

7.5 acres in the middle of the city, Cabbagetown area of Toronto. A perfect little gem to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, perfect for a walk, visit the farm animals that live there and even better, it's free! Great for all ages!

Maybe we went at the wrong time/day ( we went on a Saturday afternoon in August) but there really wasn't much to do. I was very disappointed that there was no petting of animals, I was kind of looking forward to that. Other than that, it's just a relaxing walk among various barns and pens, most of the animals were... More

The visit to The Riverdale Farm is a good choice for those who want to know different places of the city of Toronto. My wife and I spent a pleasant morning touring the peaceful environment offered. On leaving, we cross by one of the beautiful neighborhood: Cabbagetown.

Nice to go with the little ones who love animals. Running around the park, petting the animals at the farm....it's a nice outing for sure.

Riverdale Farm is a lovely gem found in the Cabbage Town community of Toronto! It has old farm buildings, winding trails, and a collection of farm animals sure to delight young and old alike! For the quality of this attraction, it is hard to believe it is free! There is a kiosk outside the park for donations, and I was... More

This was one of my favorite days in Toronto. The animals appear to be well tended and the gardens are gorgeous. Don't miss the small church and cemetery at the entrance. It is also a pleasant walk from the streetcar through a very pretty neighborhood. Make sure you approach from the streetcar side of the river, my google maps offered... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
