St. Lawrence Market is one of the worlds famous market in Toronto. I was very excited to visit this market as I'm a shopaholic. But when I actually stepped inside the place I freaked out 😑 This market is famous for most meat and some diary products. The foul smell of meat can be felt from each corner and a... More

What a wonderful market for the freshest food you can ever get. This market has been so popular for years and is one of the most well organized and cleanest markets I have ever been to. Many vendors will give out samples and almost everyone who comes to shop ends up eating there too. We always have the peameal bacon... More

Great place for meats. Didn't seen so great for prepared meals. Decent baked goods and fresh fruits.

This market is often seen or advertised as a tourist spot, but it's an exceptional market for locals to get fresh, quality food. Even I live uptown, it's worth it to drive there and get good food. Note that there are also goodies in the white tent next to the original building (Market St/Wilton St), and the parking opposite to... More

Loved this market...only if I lived in the area. We were traveling from the US. There were so many things that I could've purchased....food, kitchen supplies, etc... Definitely a great place for the locals. Tourists can get a few small take out items to eat for sure.

Nice to visit, fresh groceries and affordable prices. You can just walk through it or also buy fresh fruits, cheese, meat, fish, pastries...eat them immediatly or take them at home.

I was excited to try the market but it was a bit disappointing. There were tons of fresh food vendors selling ingredients but I was disappointed in the selection of vendors selling ready to eat foods. We planned on eating lunch here thinking there would be a variety, but there weren't a ton of options and some looked less than... More

Two levels of a very well organised and neat market! The prices aren't very cheap but the produce and quality of the fresh goods are great! As we were just passing by, we only bought some berries to eat which was delicious. There are also bagels, pork sandwiches, pastries and other goodies to sample and would make a great stop... More

This is one of my favourite places on the planet! Go early on a Saturday morning to miss the crowds. Everything you could want in food is here and so fresh.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
