About
Pandemic update. My St Lawrence Market/Old Town Toronto tours are $20 per person. Tours will be limited to 10 people and will run every Tues, Weds and Thursdays, Friday and Saturday. There will be an extra charge for my private tours. All tours will be in keeping with the latest Ontario Gov Covid-19 guidelines. Bruce Bell Tours: So much of Toronto's history is either buried under parking lots or confined to dusty history books hidden on the top shelves of libraries or just plain forgotten. Using his wealth of knowledge and experience well known historian and author Bruce Bell is determined to look under those parking lots to see what secrets are held in Toronto's much overlooked colonial and 19th century past. Bruce also does a great food tasting tour at Toronto’s famed St Lawrence Market.

Mr. Bell gave us an understanding of Canadian government, politics, elections, and all things Canadian. Plus he was so much fun to boot! Highly recommend his tours. We were scheduled for a morning tour but Bruce contacted us to say there were lots of large tours going through the St. Lawrence Market at that time and it wouldn’t be as enjoyable. We moved our time to early afternoon and are so glad that we did! We were a group of 4 so we received all of his attention!

Bruce was the most entertaining, knowledgeable and overall interesting tour guide we've ever come across. We are so thankful that Bruce was able to accommodate our group of four - he is a true Toronto treasure. We are now armed with fascinating facts about Canada, Toronto, and the St. Lawrence Market and surrounding area. Thanks, Bruce, for the best afternoon we could have hoped to spend!

We just finished our day and this morning we had the most wonderful tour with Bruce. You could not ask for a more knowledgeable person. He was so interesting and knew so much about Toronto, it just made our day. We highly recommend him for a tour in Toronto. Great value and a very enjoyable person to listen to, talk to and learn from.

Simply the best tour guide and Toronto Historian. Bruce attends may of our client appreciation events and his stories about Toronto are simply amazing. He has a real gift.

We put him in for the Order of Ontario for all the work that Bruce does quietly in the advancement of Ontario history.

Former actor Bruce Bell does a terrific job with this tour, not only providing a thorough an entertaining overview of the St. Lawrence Market itself, but also covering the nearby church and streetscape. As much a history tour as a Market tour, Bruce was a charming and informative host. Our only surprise that there wasn’t a morsel of food on a market tour.

My husband and I had just a couple of days in Toronto early this month and so wanted to make the most of our stay. We took a tour with Bruce, beginning with St Lawrence Market. I am a wheelchair user and Bruce made sure that we took the most accessible route. We learned so much about the city and Bruce's humour, genuine enthusiasm and expert knowledge made it a day to remember. We have had guided tours all around the world with many different guides and Bruce has been the best ever, by a long, long way.

Bruce has one of the most interesting tours of a city from a different perspective. He has been thee de facto historian of Toronto for a number of years and has placed plaques at historical sites throughout the city to share events that warrant attention. He is known and recognized by the city's inhabitants as he conducts tours of such locations as the Saint Lawrence Market.

Our group of 4 have traveled through 7 countries and 14 US Cities with private guides. We all agree, Bruce was simply the best, hands down. He was knowledgable, understanding, patient, fun, an excellent teacher and absolutely delightful. We are all retired or almost retired professionals who love to study history, culture, adventure, athletics and just having fun. Within the first 30 minutes, Bruce had taught us a side of US history we had never known but thoroughly enjoyed. His love of Toronto was contagious and we are now big fans of the city. While we have toured other parts of Canada before, we have a much better appreciation of the history and culture of Canada and its beautiful people. Bruce was so respectful and fun that we quickly felt like he had been a member of our group for years. We will never forget him and, because of him, I feel a sense of sadness and pity for all other tour guides we will meet in the future. If you want to know and appreciate Toronto, Canada and its people and culture don’t do anything before you complete a walkabout with Bruce.
