Neighbourhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

The way I see Toronto: A mini version of Manhattan, smaller buildings but cleaner and safe. Excellent food( DO NOT MISS THE St Lawrence Market) . Casa Loma ( go to the underground area, in my opinion the best way to experience the place and much more fun than the upstairs living quarters).
For hockey fun’s as me the Hockey Hall of Fame is a must. The Hop on Hop off bus is a great way to learn about the city and get to those places. Toronto doesn’t disappoint.

The show was an absolute blast! We went for our anniversary with our teens, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance! Unfortunately, food service did not go well. The food was prepared incorrectly three times, and we finally gave up getting it right. Every time they brought the wrong thing I missed part of the show while trying to explain what was wrong.

Great show, very funny! However, horrible horrible staff (few in particular) that feels it necessary to harass their customers over policies that are not clearly outlined anywhere in their facility (put up signs as there were none). The staff made assumptions that I verbally abused their member which is completely false and unprecedented...anything to get your customers out the door right? Especially when a staff member makes it their mission to ruin your night. The security guards are time wasters, and pathetic. A miniscule situation that could have been handled differently had their female waitress approached us without aggression and did not speak to us in such a condecending tone. This company needs to educate their staff on how to properly speak to customers. They did not give us a chance to correct the misunderstanding, but rather asks you to leave on the first "offense".Absolutely disgusted at how we were treated here. Don't come to this location if you want to have their staff completely ruin your experience of the show.

Hi Patricia,
We're truly sorry to hear about your experience.
Unfortunately, when patrons in our theatre take any actions that either harass or threaten the safety of our staff or ensemble, we take action swiftly.
We do our absolute best to communicate policies about phone usage, photography, and talking during the show during our introduction, our pre-show video, communications to your group's convener, and even in our program.
It's only after an audience member breaches our policies in multiple ways that we are required to take action to warn and, if needed, remove a patron from our theatre.
Our staff and ensemble take pride in the experience we provide and are sorry to hear yours didn't match that of our other visitors.
We appreciate your feedback and only use it to grow.
All the best!

Haven't been to a Second City show in ages. Upon arriving support staff did a great job directing us to coat check, the bar, restrooms, and ticket check. We opted to get our seats and have table service. It's only kind of table service: you order using a QR code with your phone and a server then brings your order. Our seats were pretty tight where 5 people would have needed to get up and move into the main aisle if I needed to leave my seat. The comedy show was top notch.

Awesome show, it was hilarious, fast paced, and just the right touch of audience participation. The cast was dynamic, real, and funny! It was our first time at Second City and the new theatre was great!
All the staff were great, from our arrival, to the lobby bar, to the service during the show itself.
I highly recommend the kiwi, delicious!

Great way to spend your night. We attended their Friday night show and we had a good time. The place was almost fully booked. You can order food and drinks right from your seat during the show which was very convenient. The show is not appropriate for kids as the humor and jokes are adult oriented. The cast was funny and clever. Highly recommend!

Second City is a gem that goes about its business making people laugh night after night. I recently saw "How to Kill a Comedian", and it was both laugh-out-loud funny and, at just under two hours, the perfect length for such a show.
Here are the things to note (words of caution) to keep your experience at maximum joy and laughter.
1. They offer a package deal with Wayne Gretsky's next door for dinner two hours before the show. Aside from the convenience and a wall of Gretsky memorabilia that is cool (and still easily viewed through the Second City side door), it is a forgettable meal that Wayne Gretsky wouldn't likely eat. There are much better places all around.
2. If they say line up at 7:15, be there at 6:55. The more comfortable, first-come, first-serve better seats in front of the stage go quickly. As you move toward the back, you are more likely to have a seat in a very tight space and possibly (like I was) in a high, uncomfortable bar chair. In the event of possibly being near the back on the floor, you might take your chances upstairs.
3. They will get your drink orders before the show and at intermission. Drink prices here are excellent by Toronto standards. However, note that the show starts promptly and that there is not loads of time between the Second Intermission and final sketch.
4. Don't drive. Parking on weekends by Second City is in the 20$ (for the cash lot across the street) to 30$ (credit card lot beside the building) range. Take a cab, walk from your hotel (downtown is generally very safe), or use the TTC. St. Andrew Station is not far.

I am pretty sure this is the first time I have ever listed an attraction as 5 star. This performance was amazing. I have taken my children to many live family performances, and to be honest I have sometimes dreaded the experience. The Big Bad Wolf vs Lord Underwear Face Von Schtinker show however, was a knock out! Everyone in the theatre, big and small, loved this show. The talent was incdredible. Bravo!
We were able to get in for $10 a piece with the Attractions Ontario coupon book. We each had a hot chocolate - I think it came to $10-15 with tip.

The Second City staying in Toronto was the direct result of the investment of Sam Shopsowitz and Mitchell Gold. James Patry partnered with me and then stole it from me with the compliance of Andy Alexander. I have asked him to acknowledge my contribution by he refuses to do so - fearing I will sue him for what he had stolen from me. I have said that I just wanted recognition for what I did. He is a foolish man, keeping in the founding records James Patry - and ignoring me who brought James to the table. ANd James still owes money to me as well as he never completed his commitment. Unfortunately the lawyer who did the deal - George Ferguson QC never respected our agreement and signed a new one with Andrew not recognizing the fact that Moongold Productions Limited the corporate entity that replaced our agreement had no involvement of Mitchell Gold - he assumed Moongold was me and would not come to the table with the truth. shame.

Would it be terrible if I brought a 5 month old baby cuz I can't find a sitter the night of seeing a show?

Are general admission seats ok or would you advise reserving a seat?
Written December 8, 2018
We did general admission, but were sure to show up early, and got fantastic seats. It's so small, I'm not sure if there is a "bad seat" but if you couldn't get there early, reserved seating is probably better.

Can you buy tickets on the door assuming they don't sellout? Looking at going on a weekday night.
Written October 16, 2018
Hi, Josh. Absolutely - our box office opens as early as 9am and tickets can be purchased right up until show time until the show sells out.
Our team can also take your order over the phone or online if you want to ensure you'll have seats for the revue you'd like to see.
Weeknights are typically easier to get tickets walking up to the box office, however as we get closer to the holidays, all shows begin to sell out.
We look forward to seeing you!
Armand.

I agree with the previous review. It wouldn’t be terrible for your 14 year old. It might be a bit boring for them however unless they watch a lot of news and they have an adult vocabulary.
Written January 19, 2018
Even if they are permitted, this is definitely not a child-friendly show. I wouldn’t bring my teenage kids either. Appropriate for 20+.

How soon should I reserve a seat? Is the day of okay or do you need to give advanced notice?

Our Friday & Saturday shows generally sell out, so best to book those at least a few days in advance. For Sun - Thurs, booking on the day of or day prior is usually fine, although it varies day to day. Can book online or call our box office at 1-800-4485.

Hi, I am looking at the Best of Second City show and wondering if it is appropriate for a14 yr old and a 16 yr old. I called and they said yes, but I am not convinced. I don't want anything R rated and they do watch some fairly funny and a bit off colour movie review videos and some late night tv on occasion.
Thnx

Hi Molly. Although some elements of the show change from night to night, the show will certainly contain a fair bit of cursing and other strong language, as well as mature subject matters, including references to sex (and possible drugs) . While we have had parents bring 13 and 14 years old in the past, we ultimately leave it in the parents discretion. Personally, I would say the show is suitable for 16 year old, but might be too "adult oriented" for a 13 or 14 year old.
