Ghosts, graveyards, hangings and haunts. From the old military town of York to the metropolitan city of today, discover Toronto's darker history. Stroll along the haunted cobblestone streets of the historic Distillery District by lantern light. Visit the old hanging grounds near the St. Lawrence Market, where many a rebel, and perhaps a few innocent souls, met with a gruesome end.

Nice Tour, good history

I'm Not a ghost person but found the tour entertaining. The tour guide was very good and had lots of "scary" stories.

A group of 4 of us went and were in a group of 14 people. The stories were repetitive, about people in old fashioned clothing being sighted throughout the district. It was cold and windy and the only good part was when we went into Mill St for free samples. There were a few neat facts about the history of... More

My boyfriend and I did the "original haunted walk" with Caroline as our guide. Since the weather wasn't amazing we were the only ones, so we enjoyed a private tour! Caroline was very friendly and knowledgeable and since it was a private tour we could chat, ask questions and have "bonus stories". I always love to go on haunted walks... More

We decided to try something different for a date night. The tour was fun and informative and took us to some places we would not have seen. Carolyn was great and kept us entertained. There were some kids on the tour that were spooked by the stories. Now I want to go inside some of the places we visited on... More

I did the tour of the Distillery district with the Haunted walk. The area is beautiful and I recommend that other people visit it but the tour was a waste of time. Most of what the tour guide said was kind of silly and didn't seem to have a point. I recommend visiting the Distillery by yourself and saving the... More

Decided to give this tour a try, however I did not enjoy this too much. We spent way too much time at a beer store and the stories I found were not too great at all. There were a couple of teenagers who really seemed to enjoy the tour though, so many it depends on the whether or not you... More

This tour is great fun for tourists and Torontonians too! The tour guide was a lovely storyteller named Pascale who charmed our group in French and English. As a native Torontonian, a couple of the ghost stories were familiar, but it was fun to walk around in the dark with a caped figure with lantern and learn more about the... More

I went on the "Original Haunted Tour" which leads you through Toronto telling of ghost stories and hauntings from the cities past. It was a great way to spend 90 minutes while exploring a part of the city I wouldn't have otherwise seen. It was also filled with great stories including some newer ones. I've been on haunted walks in... More

This was an excellent tour. Louis was witty, and very knowledgeable on the history of our tour. Not only did he keep us entertained, he filled us in on good places to eat! Definitely would recommend this tour and look forward to taking other tour, even the graveyards....lol

We have been on many Haunted/ghost tours in many different cities and this was the worst one we have been on. Our tour guide was non engaging, not exciting and boring..he told the stories in a matter of fact way which was not scary or interesting . As a side note, the distillery area was a great place to visit... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
