About
Montgomery's Inn is a museum that has been a Toronto landmark for over 180 years. Surrounded by a rapidly expanding metropolis, it continues to provide visual evidence of early 19th-century hospitality. Built in 1830 by Thomas and Margaret Montgomery, the Inn was a place where locals gathered to exchange news, views, as well as a good meal. Exhausted travelers were also offered a bed for the night. City of Toronto Historic Sites work collectively as 10 historic museums including: Colborne Lodge, Fort York National Historic Site, Gibson House Museum, Mackenzie House, Montgomery's Inn, Scarborough Museum, Spadina Museum, Todmorden Mills Heritage Site, York Museum and Zion Schoolhouse.

Montgomery’s Inn Museum was a tavern, farm, local gathering place and community hub in the development and history of Etobicoke.

The building includes the 1830s Inn with twelve restored rooms, a tea room, a bar room and a commercial kitchen, as well as a modern addition featuring a 3,000 volume research library, a gallery space, archives, and a gift shop.

Visitors can explore the role of the tavern in colonial Canada through ongoing educational programs, tours, events, exhibits, and farmers’ market.

A wonderful weekend activity to learn about history in the Etobicoke neighbourhood. Hours are 1-4pm and our volunteer tour guide offered an intriguing history of the property and life in Dundas circa the mid 1800's. The tea package afterwards we incorporated into our tour and it was simple but delicious. Both my senior mom and the littles equally enjoyed.

We visited Montgomery's Inn and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and our tour guide, Jane, made a special effort to accommodate us and practically gave us a private tour! We went for the tea with biscuits and it was excellent as well. We're currently planning to visit again during the summer.

Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in Toronto's history.

I have visited Montgomery's Inn on two occasions. I attended two operatic performances at that venue.
It is an amazing reflection of the historical time period.
The opera that I attended was Scenes of Joshua and it was staged at the Inn because of the historical significance. The opera was played out in different rooms in the Inn, which served to highlight every aspect of the Inn. I loved the Inn's authenticity, Well worth visiting.

My grandson was given some monetary gifts for his 15th birthday and wanted to do something nice for his Gran. He knows I like afternoon tea and especially in a nice setting. He consulted with his parents and when he called to invite me he already had Montgomery Inn as the one on the top of his list. The ambiance was so comfortable and calming and their scones with strawberry jam and cream was delightful! What a nice way for my grandson to learn how to 'treat a lady'. I felt very honoured to seemingly be the first!

Just returned from a wonderful afternoon at the Montgomery Inn. We were so fortunate to enjoy a free movie Maudi, aspart of the annual Canadian celebration.
In addition, we loved the selection of foods available at the weekly Wednesday Farmers Market.
It was so interesting to relax in a beautiful historical structure.
Amazing and informative staff.

Thanks so much,

I live on Dundas West a short walk to Islington and this is one of the places that always attracted my attention. It is a beautiful tiny inn that takes you years back into the history. I like their kitchen and all cute utensils. The garden specially in September when they have a corn festival with dance and food and cultural things for the whole family. I also visited for free as I am a library member and I can get free pass to visit any of the City of Toronto Historical sites every 3 months. Take advantage of that if you are from Toronto.
