About
Gone Sailing Adventures was founded in 2008 by Howie Colt and started charters in 2010. His passion for sailing and over forty-five years of experience has developed into a desire to introduce more people into the world of yachting. Starting as a cruising instructor, Cap't Howie has grown the company to provide the widest range of sailing options in the Greater Toronto Area. Gone Sailing Adventures' fleet includes 10 luxury yachts - 1 catamaran, 5 sailing & 3 motor. All our yachts exceed Transport Canada minimum safety requirements and include a licensed captain and host. Each boat is a brilliant example of modern ship engineering and boasts a superior interior finish. On our larger yachts, there is both covered (bimini) and open areas for those who cannot decide whether they want sun or shade. Foul weather covers are provided should the sunshine be in its liquid form. Below decks are a full galley, seating and head (washroom).

I had the privilege of boarding the stunning 'Aimant pour les Femmes' with the delightful, friendly, courteous, humble and kind crew (also gracious hosts) Nicholas and Howie for a 2 hour sail in the evening. I found it to be a wonderful experience. There happened to be some wind in the warm air creating some gentle waves and comfortable breeze. The dramatic sky offered everything at once from dark grey storm clouds and a rainbow at one end to blue sky and a vibrant and glowing sunset over Toronto's skyline. We sailed around the island and had the opportunity to sit on comfortable bean bags at the bow of the yacht (with broad view of the open water) as well as being seated at the stern of the boat for a different perspective. Though safety precautions were handled diligently with grace, tact (and humour) by both Howie and Nicholas, it was a refreshing, relaxing and rejuvenating break from this new normal. As we returned, we were met with the backdrop of a darker sky giving contrast to the city lights offering yet another beautiful perspective of the city. Everything from the yacht, the kind service from the hosts/crew and the experience are of high quality, respect and value. I highly recommend Gone Sailing Adventures for any occasion - even if just to relax and take in a breath of fresh air.

It was great to take on this new experience with Gone Sailing Adventures.
The time on the water was challenging but rewarding and Howie was a great instructor.
The views of the city from the harbour are spectacular as always and being on the water on a sunny weekend is the best way to enjoy the weather!

A highly recommended place to be. In 2020, there was practically no sailclub in Toronto to provide any sailing activity due to the pandemic. Gonesailing managed to fill this gap. I took with them a small keelboat course with Captain Howie Colt. In 2021, they had a nice program for new sailors like me with no experience. This program helped me to develop my skills in the water. This was one of the nicest programs offered by Gonesailing out of many others. Not to mention that this program allowed you to Sail 4 times a week, therefore a total of 50+ sailing during the season. No club as far as I know offer this, not in Toronto, nor outside Toronto. About its cost, I cannot put it here as it was extremely cheap 😊. Gonesailing is more than an education sailing club. They will make sure you sail as a pro in moderate to strong weather. I believe, I would have spent lots of time and money if I have to do it myself. Today, I reach small keelboat sailor and thanks to Gonesailing team as well. Waiting impatiently next season to upgrade my skills from small boat to large boat. If you visit Gonesailing, dont forget to ask for Nicolas. He is always smiling. He will help you in all ways to make your venture memorable. Their location is just perfect. It is in core harbourfront, close to TTC and many hotspots to visit in Toronto which included CN Tower, ScotiaArena, Music Garden, and many more.Thank you Gonesailing.

We had an amazing 3 hours on the Black Rock Private Cruise. The captain was very accommodating. We decided to boat around the harbor for sunset then went cruising through the canals of Toronto Island. The boat was clean and quite spacious for the 9 guests. We spent most of our time at the front of the boat which was also a spacious seating area. Overall, had a great experience and would highly recommend.

I took a 3 hours introductory course on Wednesday 8th July 2020. It was supposed to be a very hot and nice weather. It was indeed hot, zero cloud when we start sailing. 2 hours later, while we were enjoying sailing, we got hit by a storm coming from nowhere. I felt more excitement than fear because getting trapped in a storm only happened once in a lifetime for beginners. Even experiences sailors do not have always the chance to feel a strong storm. I fulfill a dream to be in this storm and experienced it to the max. You are in the middle of nowhere, heavy waves, heavy rains, heavy winds and more. Maybe you will feel it is scary, but if you like sailing, this needs to be experienced once in a life time. Forgot to mention that our skipper manage well to sail and bring all of us safe to port. We worked as a team. I highly recommend experiencing anything with Gone Sailing Adventure.

I had a great weekend learning to sail with Howie. He provided a very in depth class covering all aspects needed for a beginner learning to sail. Howie made the process fun and I would recommend this to anyone looking to safely operate a sailboat.

Once again, this will be my 3rd season with Gone Sailing Adventures and my second year with Crew Member Club which I highly recommend. There is no better way to practice what you study. The Crew Member offered by Gone Sailing Adventures is the best and the cheapest in entire Toronto. Nice spot, nice boats and best Captain this year. JC was our captain for this summer season 2022, he is very experimented, friendly, patient and much more. You will learn on every sailing with him and you will practice as much as needed. I hope to see him next year and Gone Sailing Adventures for other sailing adventures. For sure, thanks to Captain Howie to make all this happen every year.

I was looking for a convenient and cost-effective way to reconnect with my love for sailing after many years away. Gone Sailing Adventures was the PERFECT solution! Over the course of 4 seasons I worked my way through the SailCanada curriculum taught by Captain Howie and his team, and worked my way up from the Catalina 275 Sport my first season to three seasons on the luxurious Dufour 380. Gone Sailing Adventures was my one stop shop to make my sailing dreams a reality. I loved the convenience of the marina being close to work and in the heart of the city. It made weekday sunset sails with colleagues easy and fun. And it was just as easy to take out friends on the weekend with the convenient access to Humber Bay and the Toronto Islands, and parking near the marina. The boats were well maintained and always ready for "step on" sailing. Captain Howie and his team are also available for private lessons, clinics, and special occasion charters. I hired a "captain for a day" a few times to help me build skills or just help out with the sailing so I could enjoy more time with my guests. This year my wife and I bought our own boat and look forward to cruising the Great Lakes and beyond. Our dreams are coming true thanks to Gone Sailing Adventures! Thank you Captain Howie and team for making it all possible!

arriving with very little hands on sailing experience I found Howie and Co. helpful, patient and quite a bit of fun. After a very short period it felt like sailing with friends [friends with benefits...experience!]. in stage 2 of a pandemic, Howie and crew took every precaution to keep all the protocols to keep this newbie safe.
now, after taking basic keel, I'm very much looking forward to the live-aboard and learn course.
had a inkling to sail and i'm now flush with excitement to learn to safely steer a boat out into open water and guide its safe return to harbour...full credit to Gone Sailing for nurturing my interests!

We had the best time sailing around on the WhiRLygirl for the afternoon of my 40th birthday. I was quite panicked the morning of because the forecast was calling for rain, but Howie was confident it was going to be just fine. And he was right. Trust in Howie and your sail will be splendid. We celebrated with some champagne and charcuterie and just enjoyed the "Amalfi coast vibes" as my friend said. If you love getting out on the water, you need to try this with Gone Sailing Adventures.
