Decent Acoustics, Nice Location, Overpriced... Everything

Being Toronto's premiere outdoor concert venue (arguable on Downsview Park), the Amphitheatre has a few things going for it. For starters, the location is not bad at all; just located outside of the downtown core, it is quick to get to by car (though parking is murder) and public transport will bring you to within a 5 minute walk. Another... More

I went here a few times this summer for several concerts (Florence & the Machine, Rob Thomas & Counting Crows, Prophets of Rage and City & Colour). This place is one of my faves- whether you have actual seats or are hanging out on the lawns, I love it here in the summer! Tickets are usually reasonably priced (I often... More

Saw numerous shows there over many years - lot's in 2015 and 2016. Amazing place when the weather is nice. Just be prepared for whatever is forecast. Sounds is usually good. Amenities are well kept, easy to access and readily available. Surprisingly quick even when there are lineups.

Doesn't matter who you're here to see, this venue is easily the best in the city. A roof covers the first several thousand people, then it's open air and some seating before a grass hill extends back. But music under the stars with a cold drink - tough to beat!

Weather you are sitting on the back lawn or front row you will have a great time, not a bad seat in the house. Drinks are expensive and parking as well. Great sound. If its raining and you are on the lawn you will get wet.

Amazing concert venue. Leaving can be a pain after the concert just because you can only leave on one side of the venue.

Even if you are only a so-so fan you will enjoy any concert here. There are no bad seats and if going with friends the lawn is great for large groups. Wonderful atmosphere. Drinks are very expensive, like most large venues. Taxi access is annoying after the show, hard to get.

Over the course of the summer of 2016 we ended up on the lawns at the Ampitheater a few times - Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton - and while it is a nice venue, you do get what you pay for. The lawns are the cheapest place to sit, and with good reason. They are not that... More

This place is ok for a concert is you are in a sections lower than 400 and the lawns is not bad. The 400 level is terrible. The view is obstructed by the disability ramps on the concourse and people are walking in front of you the whole concert which is a huge distraction. Most of the people walking in... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
