- Zcr9999Toronto, Canada1 contributionAwesome experience for people of all agesWe were dazzled by the performance. Everyone should see this both young and old. We saw 'Winter Wonderland' but the theme's change . (check the website) This theatre should be on everyone's list as a 'must see.' The lunch was delicious and the performance amazing. Words cannot explain in full the professionalism of this special company of special needs people.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten January 4, 2024
- Gloria M1 contributionA magical night!!What a great night out from beginning to end! The dining room at the Dine and Dream Theatre feels magical from the moment you walk in and the staff are totally friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. As we walked along into the theatre it was great to be able to see the giant pictures about the history of Famous People Players with celebrities like Tom Cruise and Paul Newman. And then the show..wow! You've really never seen anything like it. With the magic of black light the performers create incredible sights, creatures and people on the stage. So much colour, music and movement. Then back to the Dining room for desert and coffee. I would highly recommend this dinner and show experience to anyone of any age. It's a terrific deal for your money and... an experience you'll never forget.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 15, 2024
- Dini P2 contributionsWant to feel good about life again? These years of COVID have left me struggling to enjoy life to its fullest again. But; last night I went to Famous People Players and shortly after the show began I was smiling and then the joy of life returned to my soul and my faith in mankind was restored. All of this plus a delicious salmon dinner and dessert. There is nothing else like Famous People Players in Canada or anywhere else in the world. They are a recognized national treasure.and fifty years later are still going strong. If you live in Toronto or you're coming this way; treat yourself to an evening that will leave you smiling and feeling good about life and how often does that happen? - Leslie K3 contributionsCongratulations FPP!: 50 years of unmatched, extraordinary theatreOur family had the time of our lives celebrating 50 years of the Famous People Players last night. This was unforgettable, exquisite, impactful dinner theatre at its finest and most creative. The brilliance of founding director, Diane Dupuy, and current director, Joanne Dupuy, shines through as the Famous People Players cook, serve and perform their hearts out, manuvering giant, colorful blacklit puppets to musical numbers like Send in the Clowns, Candy Man, Jailhouse Rock and other numbers by new Canadian musicians that soothe the soul and provide inspiration for the ages. Love abounds in this unprecedented, magnificent performing arts experience. Go FPP; we love you! A shout out to all Toronto businesses, foundations and individuals who have made the Famous People Players possible and given the world the gift of their presence for 50 years and counting!Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten August 25, 2024

I live in New York and I remember fondly when Famous PEOPLE Players were on Broadway… it was enchanting. When I came to Toronto I was thrilled to learn they had a Dine & Dream theater thanks to Paul NewmanI went and it did not disappoint. Everything from the dinner to the show was over the top.The show a Rocking Good Time was exactly that and I have seen everyone show on Broadway and this is my most favourite of all.I encourage everyone to go there and be wildly excited as I was. This is Broadway at its very bestFor all ages

Thank you Peter. We love it when people from our past show up on our doorstep.
We have a rich history and Broadway was a thrilling experience to say the least. We would love to return.
At that time it was selling one button at a time. We had a million buttons. We received a cheque from Paul Newman for $40,000 and he said, "Keep the Buttons".
Enjoy your day.

I would highly recommend that if you're looking a fun and a unique experience in or around Toronto that you head to The Famous People Players. I promise it is worth it. Not only will you get a fabulous meal (lunch or dinner), you will also get to see a fantastic show put on by the cast followed by dessert.
The mystery and fantasy brought forward by the combo of puppetry and black light is amazing. The performances are top notch and well done. Truly a memorable experience.

I went by coach to the Theatre with fellow Probus members (active retired people). When you enter, you have a nice big area decorated with pictures of movie stars and singers and personalities. The entertainment is provided by a special needs troupe originally let by Diane Dupuy. Liberace was Diane Dupuy's inspiration and he got her recognized in Vegas by doing warm ups for his show there. 45 years later and the show goes on. Some of the meal servers are also special needs men and women. The theatre is cozy and the show very entertaining with lively puppetry with black light. The music is toe tapping. It was a lovely lunch (they also do dinners). The meal consisted a a moist chicken breast, mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans (preceded by a green salad). After the performance, we went back to the table for our coffee/tea and dessert. I would do this again when they next change the show. At least 40 years ago my husband and I went with the kids and loved it then. It took a while to get back but it was worth it. Lastly, if you want to be inspired by an individual with a dream who overcame big odds to get her dream to the theatre then this is the place for you.

Wow!!!!What a review. Thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful summary.
It is through such 'word of mouth' advertising that has taken us to our 46th year.
We are passionate about what we do and it is so heartwarming to know someone cared enough to post such a review.
Thank you so much. It is people like you who keep our light burning brightly.

I had heard about The Famous People Players, but had never attended a show until this year. It was amazing! I am blown away by the skill of the performers. I can’t even begin to guess how much practice it must take to put on such a well choreographed show. In addition to the show we had dinner and dessert. The service was excellent. Highly recommend going, as a date, family outing, special occassion.

The theatre show was great. All done by special needs adults. Totally professional show. The meal with servers and cooks, also special needs, was delicious. The dessert was a great way to top off a wonderful time. The servers interacted well with us. Such a great experience and breeds understanding that special needs people just have different abilities than others. Wonderful.

My son treated me for my birthday and the whole family to an awesome afternoon with lunch and show at famous people players l dinner theatre. The food was very good, the wait staff were extraordinary. The show was so happy and motivated everyone to sing and clap. The whole experience was brilliant. We were also very lucky to have a visit with the founder of the famous people players Diane Dupuis, which totally topped the afternoon. If you or family want to have an amazing experience I would highly recommend you head out to the famous people’s player’s dinner theatre.

Famous People Players this one of the most wonderful, inspiring experiences you will have in Toronto. They have a wonderful kitchen that produces top-notch gourmet dinners and music to entertain during dinner. The black light performances are so creative and with great music and wonderful performers led by the talented Joanne Dupuy.
Joanne’s mother is Diane Dupuy, the founder and gifted leader of the organization. She has received The Order of Canada for her work with her very special and talented troupe.
As the late Bill Davis, former premier of Ontario, said to me one night, “you will never go home after an evening with Diane without a big smile on your face”.

I will be bringing my 62yr old mother and 94yr old Grandmother in 2 weeks from the states. I saw the place is handicap accessible which is great as we all have physical disabilities, but my grandmother can be picky at times. Out of the food options, is there a way to see how/what "tastes" of the food are? She isn't picky about the actual entree, she just shys away from trying new tastes. Thanks! She's excited to be coming!

The children are able to have what is on the regular menu:
Cornish Hen (or some form of Chicken), Salmon or Vegetarian - Saturday night is AAA Top Sirloin Steak in place of the Cornish Hen.
The children may have the above menu or Chicken Nuggets made from scratch - delicious.
All meals come with a salad, potato and fresh vegetables.
After the show they have dessert and coffee - the children may have ice-cream if they prefer to cakes from Dufflet Pastries.
