Neighbourhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

The entire rental process, from arriving at the hiring outlet to returning our bikes later in the day, was slick and efficient. Helmets and baskets were included in the price. Locks were an extra $5. We asked for a full day rental, as it seemed our cheapest option. Our plan was to cycle the Toronto Islands as well as the Martin Goodman trail along the waterfront. The bikes were comfortable and well maintained.
We returned our bikes slightly earlier than expected and were pleasantly surprised with the way in which they calculated the cost per time. We ended up paying less than the full day hire fee. What a great business to deal with!

We rented bicycles to go to the Toronto Islands. Bicycles were quite comfortable, pricing was good. Unfortunately one of the bikes had issues with the pedal gears (probably should have tested more when receiving the bikes). The bikes are comfortable but do look well used. Toronto city has good infrastructure for riding, despite road closures so you can even venture into the city for lunch in Kensington Market, for example, if you plan your route in advance to get through all the bicycle friendly roads.

Rented bikes to take over to the Toronto Islands. Shop is perfectly placed next to the cycle path which is great for allowing you to get used to the bikes (and for us the switch in the side of the road). No companies offering bike rentals in winter on the islands so it was great to find this place near the ferry terminal. Islands give a great view of Toronto but without the bikes, and everything being shut for the winter season, we would have probably just got the ferry straight back.
Reasonable prices for well maintained 3 gear bikes (Toronto is very flat so we didn’t have a want for anything more) and a helmet is included.

Light and easy-to-carry bikes, and a large inventory so very unlikely to run out during peak times. Helpful staff and reasonable prices. Amazing location on the harbourfront right beside the Martin Goodman Trail that goes all the way from Burlington to Ajax!

Great quality bike, adjusted to my height and ready to go immediately upon arrival. Outstanding customer service, great location, right near the tiki Taxi to the island. And not being a bike owner myself I found the rental price of $22 including tax to be extremely reasonable. Not only that, it allowed me the opportunity to explore the entirety of the island including parts that I had never seen before in 25 years of living in Toronto! Great experience all around - I will definitely be using the service again this summer :-)

My wife and I rented bikes from Wheel Excitement on the recommendation by the concierge at our hotel. I was considering using Toronto Bike Share, but their bikes don't come with locks, so you can only park them at their dedicated docking stations. We wanted a little more flexibility, in case we saw a store or restaurant in a random place that we may have wanted to stop in to.

We picked up our bikes at around 12pm, and they were comfortable and funcional. Both came with baskets, case we picked up something bulky. We were told that the shop closes at 5pm to return the bikes. First we rode the bikes up Spadina to China Town for lunch. Then we rode back down to the Toronto Islands Ferry Terminal, behind the Westin hotel on Queens Quay. We rode our bikes on Toronto Islands for a couple of hours, which I highly recommend. However, since it is Winter, the ferry does not run as often as Summer, and I realized at about 4:40pm that the next ferry at 5pm would not get us back to the shop before closing. I called the shop at about 5:07pm as soon as the ferry landed back on the mainland, and fortunately someone picked up. I high tailed it back to the shop and they were nice enough to allow us to return the bikes at about 5:15pm, which was past closing time. We were extremely appreciative of this kind gesture.

I highly recommend Wheel Experience for anyone in search of a quality bike for rent in Toronto, along with friendly and helpful service.

The bikes were in good condition. Helmets included. Helpful staff but I wish they opened earlier than 10 am.

The minute you walk in this place , you feel that something is not right. The shop is guarded by two old folks who should not be in a business of providing customer service , as they seem to be passionate about providing misleading and incorrect information.

We were taking part in Becel bike ride on 1 June 14 and arrived at the store at 8.30ish ( or thereabouts) to collect our bikes, both Tom & Jerry ( not their real names) did their best to convince that we were too late to collect the bikes and participate in the ride , it's only after being persistent that they reluctantly gave us the bikes and when we arrived at the start line ( some 20 mins later ) , we were 10 mins before the cut off time ...in short , do hire your bikes , but do not trust what they say ...and look at their website ... There were the winners of the Toronto tourism award ... In 1999 , says it all

We wanted to rent some bikes to ride the waterfront trail downtown. I was going to rent the bikes through Bike Share Toronto, but from what I understand, you have to dock your bike every 30 minutes or risk a 1/2-hourly fee of $4 until you do this docking. I really didn't feel like having to keep track of this. Instead we found Wheel Excitement to rent a bike hourly or daily. The rates are great. The best thing is they had a variety of bikes, and the helmet is included with the rental. I recommend renting a bike through them vs. Bike Share. I plan on going back to Toronto and will rent a bike through Wheel Excitement again.

Thank you for the kind remarks. We take pride in providing a complete service and centrally located in Toronto's waterfront with lots of great riding destinations. Looking forward to seeing you again.
