Etobicoke is a relaxed area along the Humber River. It's saturated with green spaces and conservatories, making it a premier destination for outdoor sports, hiking, and nature walks. Its abundance of parkland and lakes makes it a typical spot for fishing, picnicking, and camping out, especially in warmer months. The peaceful area is also enjoyed by families, who appreciate its boardwalks and sports facilities. Locals enjoy the variety of golfing and country club opportunities, which also provide lessons for golfers of any skill level.

Due to COVID-19, the City has not spent as much money on planting flowers and maintenance, as was spent in past years. Thus the overall experience from walking around the park is not as good. However, it is still very nice to walk the forest paths.

A beautiful park/garden. Huge with many little streams, garden patches, easy to intermediate trails. Lot of parking spaces and a bike lane. This park is in a quiet neighborhood. There is small duck pond for the kids and lot of shady trees for a picnic The park has many beautiful trees, and well kept lawns.
At the time of my visit, I did not find it very busy. People spread out and utilized the space. It was a great walk even though it was very hot. Did not feel the heat, because of many trees. Highly recommend it. I saw a public washroom, but I cannot comments, cause I did not use it. I did not notice picnic tables, It is for mostly hiking, walking and biking. Hope you will enjoy your visit.

During the summer months, and especially on weekends and holidays, James Gardens is crowded with people picnicking, wedding parties and photography, and people going for relaxing walks on the paths through the forest. For walkers, beware of the bikers who come up from behind and don’t make any warning sounds.

Despite the cold, rainy day, I took a walk through James Gardens and its paths into the forests. The many different types of trees, increases the variety of leaf colours, as the leaves from different tree varieties change to different colours and shades in the cold autumn weather. I’ll attach about 150 photos of trees and leaves which I took today in James Gardens. The gardens and paths through the treed areas are well-maintained.

Went for a walk with friends. The interior pathways through the forest are very muddy. Best to take the paved walkway by the river's edge.

It was hot, very humid today, with some rain showers today. Thus there were fewer people at the park. We enjoyed walking on the forest trails to get away from the scorching sunlight.

This is a great place to go on a walk with kids, pets or friends. The trails go all the way from the Royal York and Dundas area to Old Mill station to the east and Eglinton to the West. There are trails for biking and separate ones for walking. There are some incredible forested areas and some nice open spaces. You can also find some quiet nooks hidden away for reflection. There are picnic areas and Bbq pits for the summer. Always a wonderful experience.

For decades I have been visiting James Gardens several times a year. It is one of the most pleasant, quiet places in Toronto to go for a walk. There is a large parking area just off Edenbridge Road in West Toronto's up scale Etobicoke area. You can choose to walk for miles along the banks of the Humber River or you can spend an hour just going through the magnificent large flower gardens that run hp the hill from the parking lot. A pleasant brook twists down the hill finally ending in a large pool at the bottom that is always full of ducks. You will often see children here feeding bread to the ducks.
The gardens are such a favorite place for wedding photographers that they have to be booked well in advance and the city charges them a fee. On a Saturday it is interesting to watch the wedding parties going through the ritual one after another.
The paths along the river are paved and are separated into bicycle and walking paths. They go through quiet forests of tall pine trees and cross the river on a pedestrian bridges. If you are lucky you may see a deer. It is hard to believe when you are in the Humber River valley that you are in the middle of the 4th largest city in North America.
Going south, down the river from James Gardens you cross under the high Dundas Street Bridge. Just before you get to the large Bloor Street Bridge, you can cross the river on a stone bridge and go for lunch at the very posh Old Mill Restaurant and Hotel which is on the west bank of the river. It is a block away from the Old Mill subway station if you want to visit this area and do not have a car. There are dozens of good restaurants within a fifteen minute walk of the subway station along Bloor Street in either direction.

With the warmer than normal weather and much less snow, the tranquil park gardens are awakening from a mild winter and many concurrent warm sunny days. It is a nice time of the year to go for peaceful walks through James Gardens.

I love James Gardens, not only is it a great place for taking wedding pictures, but also a lovely place to brings out of town guests for a walk in the park. In the summer it is also a great place to have a picnic, does not cost anything. They also have washrooms on the grounds that are keep tidy.
