Address
Neighbourhood: Scarborough
Situated astride Lake Ontario, Scarborough is a district heavily influenced by immigration. With a number of low-rent shopping and dining options making it a highly affordable part of town, and boasting one of Toronto's largest shopping malls, the otherwise green suburban neighborhood is a good place to go for bargains and discounts. It also draws in photographers. The spires, archways, and cavernous rooms of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Palace are filled with breathtaking art, architecture, and detailed reliefs – it’s like entering a different world, The ruins of columns and installation art at the Guild Inn makes a free-for-all exploration site, while the big-name draw for young photographers is the menagerie at the Toronto Zoo. While many visitors shirk Scarborough as too suburban, its houses are some of Toronto's most mystical and haunting architectural beauties. And for adventure lovers, it has river-rafting and some unique hiking trails.

This is the park to go if you want to have picnics and barbecues with family and friends. There’s lots of picnic tables and barbecues. There’s a children’s playground with swings, slides and an interesting climbing structure. Also a splash pad and there’s changing / bathrooms. There’s a cement ping pong table. You can also rent bikes which is at the entrance of the park beside one of the parking lots. This park opens at 8:00am. There’s walking path where you can also ride your bike. We went in April and the park was clean, no garbage around. I enjoy the ravine you see as you walk along the path.

My family goes to Morningside park regularly, probably at least once a month. There's a very big children's playground with interesting climbing structures and a kiddie splash pad. There's always people BBQ-ing or having big family reunions there on the weekends.

We like to go down by the river to fish for river chub. There are TONS of them. We do catch and release because they are small fish and probably not very tasty, but it's fun for the kids.

By the river side, we have seen ducks, deer and woodpeckers.

Along the river, there are lots of sedimentary rocks. We like to smash them open and have found TWO trilobite fossils inside Morningside Park. Each fossil is about the size of a toonie. We have also found larger fossils (the size of a fist) but they were not trilobites. They looked like a type of coral. This area used to be underwater as part of an ancient sea. The bedrock here is Devonian sedimentary rock so fossils are quite abundant here and interesting for kids to discover.

I have a very energetic 3-yr old and this perfect is perfect. Near my house in Scarborough, not crowded. Actually, very peaceful. We can observe and listen to birds, the creek, trees, everything a toddler loves.

This park is huge, its nice hills and ravines with all sorts of wildlife.
You really feel like you are in the country and miles away from a city.
I go there often with my girlfriend and it has such a relaxing feel to it.
One evening late we even saw some deer, quite a treat!

We have visited this park on several occasions over the last year.
Wonderful location to get your exercise while taking in beautiful sights.
Sitting by the river, having a BBQ or having children play on the play ground.
If you are lucky enough you can spot some wild life.
We have seen racoon, ground hogs. Fish, Snakes, deer prints, and of course several bird varieties and squirrels.
