I went to PEI Oct 19-20. Drove in the mainland from Charlottsville, then the northern part of the mainland N. Rustico, Cavandish, New London and back to the bridge. I was not impressed with any of it. Unfortunately, the parks were closed due to the hurricane but the areas surrounding the parks were accessible and not interesting so I dont think the parks would have been either. It was a big let down. The far NW might be better. I have done a lot of traveling and PEI is not beautiful like I was told. The drive to PEI was pretty but PEI was not.

Harbourhouse in Charlottsville was very good.

You HAVE to include a trip to Greenwich Sand Dunes on your list. This place was absolutely beautiful!
We went in off season so there was no charge and nobody around. It felt like had the place to ourselves.
The trails to the dunes are mostly flat and include some wooded area and a floating boardwalk. It was a very windy day but the boardwalk was no issue.
The sand dunes and beach was peaceful. The sound of the powerful wind and waves were like something we've never heard before.
You won't regret visiting here.

Clean campsites some with an ocean view. A great 8 mile biking path along the beach and cliffs that is worth the ride. Bathhouses are clean and plentiful.

East of the main drag in Cavendish, there is a stunning 2-3 kms (each way) walk through forest and over a freshwater lake (floating boardwalk!) that gets you to a stunning white sand beach. One of the best trails and beaches in PEI. Very quiet and uncrowded when I went. The floating boardwalk is a real highlight.

Lovely clean sandy beach with life guards, and beautiful sand dunes are the big attraction to PEI National Park. There are lots of campgrounds, motels and B and B’s nearby. We stayed at Silverwood Motel which is walking distance to groceries, restaurants and entertainment for the family. This is in Cavendish, PEI, the home of Anne of Green Gables and is the ideal vacation spot because it has so much to offer.

The park has many beach areas that are fun to explore but the best part for us by far was the Dunes Trail in Greenwich. This is a decent walk over mostly level ground, good for all ages. I have knee issues abs was able to manage all but the very end. The walk takes you through woods, a boardwalk and a floating boardwalk to see a variety of habitats including a magnificent parabolic dunes system where we saw a black and white warbler and a common yellowthroat. The interpretative center is also interesting with many exhibits about local life, human and animal and marine. The wall exhibit about life in the area over the last 10000 years was fascinating…and in three languages, English, French and the indigenous dialect. Much to enjoy for all!

Such a great experience again staying at Cavendish campground! We were there for a week and will be back again in August! Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful especially Jessica, Tara, Pat and Julien! It's right on the beach and bathrooms are very modern and well maintained! The kids (and adults) loved the playground and biking trails too! Can't wait to go back !

We did the 4.7k dunes walk that takes you through the forest before walking along a boardwalk above the marsh. At this time of year the water was really high. The boardwalk goes a long way before you come to a set of stairs to take you up to the dunes. You then reverse your steps back to the parking lot. This was a beautiful walk

Being a BC boy and now living in Alberta I’ve always loved the sea. The views from the coast line here are just amazing. The rolling surf, the smells the viewpoints and the cleanliness of the parks were great. A must stop and see and such a short drive from Charlottetown.
