We totally enjoyed our experience with Jim Conahan for the Lobster and Mussel Shore Boil. Our timing in PEI was terrible with the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. We were flying home out of Charlottetown so we had no choice but to be there. Unfortunately and understandably everything was closed because of the power outage and other Experience PEI events had no choice but to cancel but Jim was determined to provide us with this wonderful experience. He had a generator going and it was obvious that he had tried to clean up as many fallen trees as he could have so we could have a great experience. The information about the mussel and lobster industry was so interesting and the hands on preparation was fun. The food was absolutely everything we had hoped for.

Loved our food tour! We learned a lot about the history of PEI while enjoying some of its tastiest bites. We also had a nice chat with the other members of our tour. Our tour guide Shirley was knowledgeable and lovely. Would highly recommend this tour to start your trip to PEI.

My friend Cory says if I can put 10 stars I should. We had a great time and Cory can’t stop talking about it!

So tasty! We enjoyed the Mussel & Lobster Boil evening with Jim Conohan. He taught us so much about the complexities of mussel fishing - we have a whole new appreciation for it. Who knew Eastern PEI is the tuna capital of the world, too! So ask Jim about his prize catch, if he doesn’t volunteer it!

We spent an evening with Jim tonging and shucking oysters and had so much fun hearing his tales of fishing. Also leaned how locals tong for wild oysters. Great experience!

Beachcombers Clam Boil was such an incredible experience. Jim taught us how to dig for clams and oysters on his beach. The. He cooked us mussels, and served us salad, as well as all the shellfish he collected. He shared stories and history of the island, making this a very interesting and unique experience! 10/10 would recommend!!

We did the Sensational Sandcastles through Experience PEI:
Such a rewarding experience. Maurice captivated my kids (and passers by), explaining how to make the most amazing sand castles. He does such an excellent job explaining and showing the kids, getting in there helping them make their visions become a reality. He brings all the tools and knowledge, and you just have to bring your imagination (and some sun screen!)
This is the kind of thing you and your kids will remember for the rest of their lives. I can't recommend it enough. My kids were already talking to their cousins about how they learned from a "sandcastle expert" and are going to show them.
Maurice also has his art in a gallery in Avonlea village which is totally worth a look as well. His painting are stunning.

We did a sandcastle building lesson in North Rustico with Maurice. It was AMAZING!!! 10/10 high recommend to anyone! The beach was gorgeous, Maurice is so kind and patient and a great teacher. We made an epic sandcastle with him! We also went to see his artwork in the gallery at Avonlea Village which was breathtaking. He was teaching kids there watercolour painting outside which was so sweet. He’s one of a kind! Maurice was the highlight of our trip and I am so happy we booked our experience with him!

The BAD first - the bad deserves a negative review:
Budget and all rentals at the PEI Airport.
We had a rental reservations and an email to prove our reservation on Jun 20th, 2022. The reservation was from 06/28 to 07/05. My flight out of YYZ was cancelled and also delayed the next day, so I did not make it in until Jun 30 12:45 AM. On 06/28 at 9:50 pm, A person by the name of Connor from Budget (9025664600) called and assured me that my reservation was still active and that they would hold the car for us.
When we arrived Jun 30 12:45 AM (because of all the flight delays) Patrick FROM BUDGET/AVIS could not find the reservation but ALSO REFUSED to charge us full cost for a car and resolve the matter the next day. No problem solving skills whatsoever.
We had to take a taxi to our hotel and had no car for our PEI trip.
Which leads me to my second point, the Government offices in PEI should do a better job at protecting visitors from getting swindled by the taxi companies. We used Yellow Cab PEI - within same zones and no traffic issues for all our rides we paid from $1.76 / KM to $3.52 / km - Its a gong show and you never know what you will pay.
The inconsistency is disappointing and unjust. We try to stay within Canada to support Canadian travel and business but this is ridiculous and unacceptable service
THE GOOD/GREAT
Dalvay by the Sea - Great views, food and service
Richards Seafood - top 10 Best comfort food in North America
Shaws Hotel - Great views, Exceptional service
Dunes Cafe - Exceptional views, Great service and great food - portions are too small
and the North Winds Brackley Beach hotel is laid back and an accurately rated 2 star but staff are great and premises and rooms are very clean.

Hi,
I’m hoping you can advise me if there are still tours available in October (2nd, 3rd, 4th)? I would love to see all of the island but have limited time. I especially want to see the Green Gables house to fulfil my childhood dream. I have been told the island mostly closes down by October. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thank you

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, Green Gables will be open at that time. There may be some restaurants and shops closed but the city centres will still be buzzing with activity. Hope this helps!
