One of our best highlights visiting Charlottetown was walking to Victoria Park which is just west of the city along the water. It is a fairly large park with a very long boardwalk along the water. A flower display with “Victoria Park” will greet you.
We walked as far as the lighthouse on the western end. On the eastern end is the historic home of “Beaconsfield.” Free tours of the house with suggested donations operates almost daily. The government house where the Lieutenant Governor lives is across the street with possible tours of that mansion in July and August from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
There is a 19th battery with cannons that faces the Hillsborough River. Good views can be had at the top of the battery.
A concession stand opens up at 10:30AM. This area is also where you can find a bathroom. Not far is an 8-court tennis complex. I am surprised that there were no pickleball courts as of yet.
Further along is a large children’s playground. Any child would love to play here. Close by is a pool complex which opens up at 11:00AM.
On a day nice, Victoria Park is a pleasant walk—particularly along the huge waterfront boardwalk.

Great place for a walk. Pleasant boardwalk around the foreshore. Charlottetown is lovely and as well as the park there are interesting historical buildings to investigate. We visited twice from a cruise and enjoyed our two days here.

Lots of things to do and see in the park. There is an amazing playground for people of all ages, sizes and abilities, that promises hours of fun, and a beautiful outdoor pool and splash patch to cool off. The tree walk was very informative, and not too long. The children’s activities available at the pavilion were both educational and fun for a variety of ages.

We hiked out and through this park enjoying the stroll through the local neighborhood. It has a historic battery with informational plaques that appealed to our teen. A offers a very picturesque view of the local waterfront. If out and about on a hot day visit the local ice cream shop situated in the center along the water.

Very well maintained and a credit to the maintenance people. The Platinum Garden by Governor House especially so, well designed.
Further round is plenty of safe walking and food to go at reasonable prices.
The views to sea are very good, nice relaxing scenario on a sunny day.

Victoria Park is a great place for a walk or bike ride! We visited on a warm fall day, and enjoyed exploring through the park. It has a lovely boardwalk area with lots of park benches to relax and enjoy the water views. Definitely worth a visit!

Multiple, excellent playgrounds by the water including an accessible playground.
Went for a walk with the family while we were staying nearby, and were amazed at the size, cleanliness and amount of playground equipment. It was quite windy, but the kids didn't mind at all.

I was there on a cold day, but loved those Icebergs. It was more sightseeing than the park recreational activities, still enjoyed it.

The sheer beauty of the seascape is ideal for your adventure of discovery of the historical cannons strategically in place. You will also relax as the tide level changes. Along the pathway you discover the Lieutenant Governor Residence. Th central Victoria Park has areas for group social activities and beautifully landscaped with in bloom plants filling the air with scents.

You may want to start right here folks!
Beautiful scenery and a nice big playground for the kids, swings, slides, merry-go-rounds the whole bit with a nice family oriented supervised swimming pool to boot for them hot days.
A long lengthy wooded boardwalk around the water compliments this that leads to Peakes Quay a dainty little wharf with many shops and restaurants and gift shops made especially for tourists, let me add reasonably priced are these shops!
You have to stop in for the ice cream in Victoria Park or down at Cow's ice cream on the boardwalk.
The open fields in Victoria Park are huge and beautiful, many benches along the way to sit down and relax while the summer breeze catches your hair if you have hair. Dont forget to bring a Frisbee!!!

How far of a walk from cruise boat terminal?

It’s a couple of blocks. We drove there instead. You can opt for bicycle rentals and bike there.

you can see the ships from the park but it is kind of a horseshoe shape and it is about a 25 minute walk back from the park to where the ships are docked. So you can see then but from the distance
