I love history and when I got to the Battery and saw the cannons, I was surprised by how real they looked. I imagined what it might have been like back then and how far the cannon balls would shoot off shore. How many sunken ships are out there? I asked a couple on lookers but they didn't know. I... This is the most interesting part of Victoria Park, and makes for the obvious stopping off point for the casual visitor to the park. The views from here are good, but if driving it might be harder to find a spot on busy days.

Currently located on a hill overlooking the sea in an apple orchard within Victoria Park this cannon battery once defended the harbour of Charlottetown. A number of posted signs provide a unique history of the local defenders of P.E.I and the involvement of the battery and its service men through our country's history.

Was a great walk along the boardwalk and up to see this. Was very interesting to see what they would have seen in the days of that era

This is a pleasant area to walk and enjoy the harbor area. The old gun battery is interesting in that such a small gun battery could protect the island.

If you're walking along the boardwalk, you can't miss a visit at the battery. It's part of Victoria park's boardwalk area. It's near the ice cream stand, and bathrooms. It gives you a bit of a higher view point of the harbour. In the summer there is a large white square frame nearby for picture taking. Nothing is off bounds,... More

Beautiful day at a beautiful park. My husband is a "fort" nut so he was happy with the Battery. Nice viewing area.

The view out the Charlottetown harbour is second to none from here. the locals use the boardwalk as a daily place to walk, and it is busy year round. I have a soft spot for this spot on the boardwalk, my husband proposed to me here 20 years ago.

we saw this on the double decker hippo bus tour. We would have missed it otherwise. Was very interesting to know that the cannons have never been shot and that PEI was only invaded once and they kidnapped an official and stole a seal which has never been returned. beautiful place for a walk. there is also a playground nearby

If you've seen one old cannon, you've pretty well seen them all, so don't go to Victoria Park just to see the Battery. However, the park offers a very nice view of the city, and lots of parking nearby. It's opposite to the entrance to Charlottetown Harbour and a great place for pictures. And if you're with youngsters, or alone... More
