We downloaded the app before going out but still had to download the audio files specific to the spots we were in, once we got there, and that was challenging on some of our phones. Also found that the images do not sync up to the audio when you start so you either figure it out or wait till it restarts—which may not be obvious. Only the beaver one was too much French for us—the others were all in English. Even with all of those challenges we still give it 5 stars because the images and ideas are amazing. I’ve never seen anything quite like the tree ones—haunting, intriguing and hard to stop watching. Even on a rainy night—well worth it and FREE!

Such a cool and FREE experience. Make sure your bring an extra phone or keep yours well charged. We enjoyed walking through all the nooks and crannies of Old Montreal at dusk to watch these amazing films being projected on buildings throughout the area. Each of them was stylized a little differently, but talked about an industry, or a event or a person of significance to the city, up through the present.

Cite Memoire was a delightful way to both interact with history and explore a truly great city. The app is easy to download, simple to follow and best of all: it's free! While you might need to duck out of the way of passing pedestrian traffic to listen to the full audio, seeing people's reactions to the projection is a treat in and of itself. Be sure to download your tour in advance to prevent data connectivity issues.

Very cool light installation throughout the city of Montreal.
Download the app on the phone and on certain days of the week and certain hours as you pass by pre determined GPS locations a light show will project on a building wall.
It was fun. It starts at 7 PM (dark) and ends at 11 PM so we would have liked to have seen more but we got out of dinner too late.
It is a free app.

Having read about this on Trip Advisor prior to visiting Montreal, I was curious as to what was. I was completely blown away by the technology used to create this wonderful display of Montreal's history. Using the app, we went to about 1/3 of the "walls" in Old Montreal, as well as the half hour presentation on the Champs de Mar. It was just amazing. My only regret was not doing this both nights we were in the city. I cannot wait to return so I can see the rest of these displays.

I have been blown away. This is probably the best outdoor exhibit I have ever seen. Download the app....follow along in the streets, and enjoy the state of the art projected historical videos blasted onto the sides of the old brick buildings, trees, and cobblestone. The artists hit their target on this one. If you weren't interested in the history of Montreal before seeing.....you will be after!

I was able to attend a VIP screening in the park and it was awesome. Even if you didn't have the comfy chairs, it's worth it. The movie itself is great and the projection onto the building was seamless. The quiet park, surrounded by old buildings made the atmosphere even better. I would recommend this activity!

We visited Montreal this August and experienced the visually stunning projections occurring nightly on various buildings, alleys and other structures throughout the historic district. This was really done well and the collective city of Montreal should be very proud of itself for pulling this 375th anniversary celebration off so well. Outstanding!

This was really fun. After downloading the Cite Memoir app on your phone, you wander the city at night, guided by the app, stopping to view up to 20 different video projections. Historical vignettes are shown on the walls of old buildings...it was great. And free as well!
