Such a cool and FREE experience. Make sure your bring an extra phone or keep yours well charged. We enjoyed walking through all the nooks and crannies of Old Montreal at dusk to watch these amazing films being projected on buildings throughout the area. Each of them was stylized a little differently, but talked about an industry, or a event or a person of significance to the city, up through the present.

We downloaded the app before going out but still had to download the audio files specific to the spots we were in, once we got there, and that was challenging on some of our phones. Also found that the images do not sync up to the audio when you start so you either figure it out or wait till it restarts—which may not be obvious. Only the beaver one was too much French for us—the others were all in English. Even with all of those challenges we still give it 5 stars because the images and ideas are amazing. I’ve never seen anything quite like the tree ones—haunting, intriguing and hard to stop watching. Even on a rainy night—well worth it and FREE!

I loved this so much that I posted it to my friends on Facebook. While staying at L'Hotel I looked out of my window and saw part of the experience. Then, I found the app and experienced the rest of the exhibit. It was a wonderful surprise and very informative.

I downloaded the app looked at the map, but just couldn't figure it out. I was so excited about this. I started asking people I ran into if they could help me. The first one told me how great is was and showed me her videos and explained where I would find the yellow feet on the ground. The next person was able to give me more info, but neither of us could get the video to play. The rest the people I talked to didn't know what it was. I hope to go back some day and try again. Very cool idea.

Very cool light installation throughout the city of Montreal.
Download the app on the phone and on certain days of the week and certain hours as you pass by pre determined GPS locations a light show will project on a building wall.
It was fun. It starts at 7 PM (dark) and ends at 11 PM so we would have liked to have seen more but we got out of dinner too late.
It is a free app.

Cité Mémoire is an ongoing art installation displayed in Old Montreal. It is scheduled to last for four years, and features 80 projectors creating images on old buildings. Cité Mémoire has been called the "largest such installation in the world". Here's but one of them.

Really wanted to see this but COULD NOT fully download the information. The little we were able to get was all in French. We were able to see the projections, but not very interesting without sound.

Cite Memoire was a delightful way to both interact with history and explore a truly great city. The app is easy to download, simple to follow and best of all: it's free! While you might need to duck out of the way of passing pedestrian traffic to listen to the full audio, seeing people's reactions to the projection is a treat in and of itself. Be sure to download your tour in advance to prevent data connectivity issues.
