- PokeyslowHalifax, Canada490 contributionsExciting but a little too WarmWe checked out this amazing giant ferris wheel on one of the hottest, most humid days in August. I was a little worried because i can't tolerate hot temperatures very well. It was over 30 degrees. Standing in line was painful, it seemed to go very slow and there was no shade. the staff were pleasant and working as fast as they could but it seemed the limiting step was the credit card transaction speed. We were able to wait in another line to get onto the Ferris Wheel (thankfully in the shade). They were very careful about cleaning/ disinfecting the individual cabins. It was nice cause we got our own and didn't have to share with anybody. The cabins are air conditioned, however because it was such a hot day it was inevitable that the temperature inside would rise - it was 22 degrees when we first got in and after 2 rotations it was up to 24 and I was feeling stuffy! It was confusing as we didn't get any instructions on how many times it would go around and there was a button on the ceiling you could push however we weren't sure if this was for emergency or if we wanted to get let off. There is also an emergency phone number you can call but my phone was out of battery so I felt momentary panic. Thankfully once the button was pushed they stopped for us to get off the next go round. The staff explained it is typically 2-4 revolutions depending on how busy they are. The views were impressive however if you are claustophobic at all, scared of heights, or temperature sensitive do not recommend this in very hot weather. The views are spectacular so worth doing at least once if you are visiting and don't mind the other factors. We couldn't take good pictures of downtown due to the glare of the sun in the mid afternoon in summer so suggest if you want pics of this to go in the am.Visited August 2021Written August 7, 2021
- Bianca I1 contributionAmazing View to See!!It was an amazing experience I'm so glad that i was able to experience this even though it was the coldest day ever that day it was a beautiful experience. The view from up on the wheel was beautiful, got to see so many beautiful landmarks while being on the ferries wheel. It is a must to experience and seem, its really comfortable and what i liked about it as well is that its closed your in a gondola not out in the open and it is spacious you can fit quite a few people in the gondola. I actually plan on going back with a few friends in the summer that way they can experience this wonderful experience. Its a beautiful ferries wheel even in the winter as well. I went with my teacher and my classmates and it was a great experience to experience it with them. Thanks for the review, 52biancai! We’re so glad you enjoyed our iconic 360° views of Montreal. We look forward to seeing you again with friends and family. - Liana Panetta1 contributionAn incredible view of Montreal!!!I went with a group of my classmates studying for Hotel Industry. The gondolas were heated up as we got on site which was perfect for the extremely cold weather that we were having the day we visited. Fast service on our ride and plenty of helpful staff!!! We had the ride on the Grande roue for free as we were a class and had a huge group of people tagging along. I would definitely recommend Grande Roue for any tourists and for anyone that lives here that would like an experience on the Ferris wheel. We went in the daytime but i would recommend going at night as well because the Ferris wheel lights up. it was a wonderful experience that i would love to try again. Tickets sell for $20 but its definitely worth it!!!Thanks for the review, 52biancai! We’re so glad you enjoyed our iconic 360° views of Montreal with your classmates. We look forward to seeing you again, this time with friends and family! While it was a nice ride with a lovely view and we enjoyed it, we felt it was more expensive than it should be.

Fortunate to have had a stunning weather day. Sunny and blue skies. My sister and I went mid-week so, there was little time spent waiting in the queue. We also didn't have to share our gondola meaning we were able to move around to see the views from different vantage points.

Great way to see the river and the city. There were no lines when we visited, and we appreciated having a climate controlled cab for the ride.
The only thing I’d appreciate is having a map or video screen that identifies for visitors what they are looking at.

This Ferris Wheel is tall. It is in a park that seems to be reclaimed land from the river. It reminded me of the Eye in London or the new one is Vegas. It’s nice.

Great for people who have never been to Montreal before. There were 3 of us, and we arrived around 11am on a Saturday. We got a cabin to ourselves. I noticed that it did get very busy later in the day. It was a very hot day so it was nice that it was air conditioned.

La Grande Roue is simply put an observation wheel in Montreal. Not much more to say about that. It’s something you should do when in the area, absolutely. The views are great and you get at least three trips up and down on the wheel. The rooms inside are also air conditioned which is great, especially on hot summer days. However, I’m not sure if it’s worth the money or time. You could easily spend this money looking around the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts or nearby Old Montreal, but definitely don’t take this off your to-do list when in Montreal. Experience it once, but leave it at that.
Simply put, I do recommend this attraction but only if you’ve never been on it before.

Too expensive, north of 30 CAD for a single person and about 3-4 revolution only and most of it are just waiting for other passengers to get in and out, well I never experienced taking a ride and wanting to get out sooner. The gondola is good, moves swiftly and the panels were clean and wide, takes 8 seats at a time. The city line of Montreal is just ok, not a lot to get excited for. By comparison, Niagara Falls is shorter but 60% cheaper, and comes with great bundles.

The views are amazing, the duration of the ride (about 20 minutes) is just right, and the cars are air-conditioned. I had such a good time, I went on twice! I attended during a very busy time and the line moved quickly. Didn't wait more than 5 minutes to buy my tickets and to ride the wheel.

Splurged and rented the VIP carriage and really enjoyed it. It has a glass floor which was a wonderful view. We went right about sunset, but the clouds blocked most of the sunset. Doing the vip you get a little extra time. The views of the city and river were beautiful.

It was a bit pricey, but.... I'm very glad we did it. It took 4 revolutions and lasted a little over 20 minutes. Was not busy the day we went. Seating and air temp control were comfortable. The views were spectacular (We went close to sunset time.). Great opportunity to relax for a little while and enjoy some family time.

Hi! I'm planning to visit on Wednesday evening (around 5:30 pm) in October but don't have much time. Are there many people waiting? Should I purchase the tickets beforehand and the Fastpass as well?

If you purchase the day/evening ticket do you have to do both in the same day, or can you go during the day one day and then the evening on a different day?

Hola, una opción es comprar en linea los boletos, otra es llegar antes de las 10:00 am comprarlos y pasar el tiempo en el viejo puerto, en el viejo Montreal, en el mercado, y cerca de ahi hay muchas actividades para la familia. Saludos.

Is there a vendor set up to take group pictures ? If so , how much , what size are they and are they packaged

Yes, your photo is taken in front of a green screen before you go on the ride. They add the Ferris wheel as background and post the picture for you to see once you exit the wheel. Costs $30 if you choose to take it. Do not wear anything green if you think you might want the picture as it will not photograph well. Not sure how many people could be in the picture- 6 as a max I would say since the background screen is small. Not aware as to how it is packaged.
